The Canadian native appeared in 54 games across two seasons for the team. In that time, he averaged 5.9 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. However, following legal allegations, the Spurs waived Primo in October 2022. The Alabama alum eventually signed with the Los Angeles Clippers, who he played two games for last season.

Chicago Bulls Sign Former Lottery Pick to Training Camp Deal

Joshua Primo’s Fit in Chicago

Primo is unlikely to play for the Bulls any time soon. Though he has shown flashes of being a solid NBA player, remaining in the G League is likely his best bet at this point. Furthermore, while the Bulls are not a competing team currently, the one thing they do not need is more guards on the roster. The Bulls currently have Josh Giddey, Lonzo Ball, Coby White, and Ayo Dosunmu on the roster. Additionally, Zach LaVine, though slated to start for the team at small forward, is naturally a shooting guard as well.

Still, there is still some excitement to have following Primo’s addition to the Bulls. At this point in the year, especially since it is just a training camp deal, Primo is a very low-risk, high-reward signing. Ultimately, while his NBA career has not started off in an ideal way, Primo was a lottery draft pick just three years ago. If he can come to Chicago and showcase some of his potential once again, this could become a good move for both sides.

The Chicago Bulls’ Offseason After Signing Joshua Primo

The Bulls had an interesting offseason this summer, to say the least. Most notably, star DeMar DeRozan departed and joined the Sacramento Kings. Additionally, they traded defensive specialist Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Giddey. Furthermore, the team held on to numerous players that were popular trade candidates. This includes Nikola Vucevic and LaVine, two players who have popped up in trade rumors a lot over the past year.

Next season, the Bulls are unlikely to be in legitimate title contention. However, they drafted Matas Buzelis, who has high expectations for this season. Additionally, they are expected to get Ball back to start the campaign. The Bulls have an opportunity to surprise some people and make a lot of noise, which may culminate in a playoff appearance.

According to The Athletic’s Darnell Mayberry, the Chicago Bulls have signed Joshua Primo.
