He made his fifth All-Star game and was named to his third straight All-NBA team this season. Tatum helped lead the Celtics to the best record in the NBA at 64-18. They then cruised to the NBA Finals, defeating the Dallas Mavericks in five games. Tatum was excellent throughout the playoffs, but his star was outshone by running mate <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/09\/03\/the-top-5-best-small-forwards-for-the-2024-25-nba-season\/\" target=\"_self\">Jaylen Brown<\/a>. Similar to when <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/curryst01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stephen Curry<\/a> and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/duranke01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kevin Durant<\/a> teamed up in <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/09\/11\/bob-myers-had-a-migraine-after-golden-state-won-finals\/\" target=\"_self\">Golden State<\/a> when a team has too much talent, the star players seem to get less recognition.
