According to Joe Tipton of On3, Lewis is now considering Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, and UConn.

Top-5 2025 Point Guard Acaden Lewis Now Considering Just 4 Schools, all Big Time Programs, and Discusses Why The Four Made His List

Lewis holds over 30 DI offers and previously announced a list of eight finalists (July 19). Therefore, the 6-3 Washington (DC) native no longer considers Auburn, Michigan, Syracuse, and Tennessee.

Lewis is the consensus No. 34 prospect and No. 5 point guard in the class, with a 95.65 rating. All four recruiting services rank him between No. 28 and 55, with ESPN listing him as the highest.

“It has been a steep trend upward over the past 12 months for four-star Acaden Lewis,” Jaime Shaw of On3 said earlier this summer while attending the NBPA Top 100 camp.”He plays with an excellent pace, keeping a live dribble at all times and taking what the defense gives him. The lefty gets into the paint using a crafty handle and excellent pace. The jump shot is consistent, and he does a lot of damage in the mid-range.”

Lewis has said he plans to choose his school before the early signing period. However, Lewis will likely want to visit all four of his finalists, and the only one he has scheduled thus far is North Carolina (October 4). So, what is he looking for in a program?

“I’m looking for a winning culture,” Lewis told Tipton at the end of August. “That is something you have to do. If you want to go to the league or do whatever after college, you have to win. I want to be somewhere you have opportunity but also fight for a spot. You don’t want to go to a program that is overpopulated with three or four guards playing the same position you are. You want to go somewhere you can compete to play right away. Those will be the biggest factors for me.”

Looking At Lewis 4 Finalists

While Lewis hasn’t officially visited any of his four finalists, he has been on each of the four schools’ campuses over the last three months. Here is a look at each school and his thoughts, per Tipton.

“Speaking with sources around his recruitment, Duke, UConn, and Kentucky are the three schools I have heard the most, On3’s Jaime Shaw said in August.

Duke Blue Devils

Duke offered Lewis in June and, he took an unofficial visit to Durham in August.

“Duke has done a really good job of recruiting me, since they picked up recruitment a couple months ago. That’s a constant with every school. But [Jon[ Scheyer has done a really good job of showing me why I fit in their system, what the opportunity next year would look like, preaching that I can come in and play as a freshman. Coach Dildy has done a really good job of recruiting as well, always talking to my parents and me. They’re really doing everything they can to show me that I’m the priority at point guard and that they really need me. They’ve done a really good job of that, and on top of that, it’s a pipeline from my area with guys going there in the past couple of years. They’re doing well for themselves so it’s shown to be a good place. A point guard going to Duke is a really big deal. Anybody with this opportunity is really fortunate. I’m really thankful that a school like that, and all four of these schools, are recruiting me.”

Kentucky Wildcats

Kentucky offered Lewis on his unofficial to campus a few days before Duke made their overture. According to Jack Pilgrim of KSR, Mark Pope and his entire staff visited Lewis this past week in an in-home visit at DC.

“A lot of people saw the home visit they just did with me and everything. Their staff is doing an amazing job recruiting. They’ve been super active being in film sessions with me. I like the thought of playing with Jasper Johnson to be honest. Two lefties is pretty lethal. So that’s pretty cool. I’ve seen Coach Pope at BYU a bunch of times, just watching. Not knowing he would get the Kentucky job or I would even get the opportunity to be going to a Kentucky, but he’s done a really good job with the program so far. I think they’re going to have a good year this year. And I think next year, with the way he is recruiting, it could be a breakout year if he gets all the guys he’s going after. Just blessed to play in a system like that. Coach [Jason] Hart played in the NBA and he was bad, like he could hoop. So it would be cool to learn from a guy like that especially since he’s be around the league with G-League Ignite. So a lot of experience and a great staff and a place I could see myself playing.”

Fellow 2025 Kentucky recruiting target Caleb Wilson, who was on the Lexington campus this week, seemingly made a pitch to Lewis on the behalf of the Wildcats.

“Come on over, Wilson posted in a caption in a social media post under a graphic of Lewis’ top schools.

North Carolina Tar Heels

UNC offered Lewis on June 12 and visited the Chapel Hill campus 15 days later.

“Coach [Hubert] Davis, Lebo, and the rest of the staff have also done a really good job of recruiting me. They’ve been really active planning out the home visit and now I have my official visit that I’ve put out for October 4th so ready to get up there. I’ve been up there on an unofficial already and they showed me a good time. I went to practice and everything. It’s a guard school. They play really fast and let their guards make the decisions. With Bacot not being there now, I’m interested to see how that changes up their dynamics. They let their guards rock out and I could see myself playing in their system.”

UConn Huskies

UConn offered Lewis a job on June 12, and he paid an unofficial visit to Storrs at the end of that month.

“Coach [Dan] Hurley is an amazing coach. I love the fire in him, he’s a bit crazy to be honest. But I really like that about him. I’m good with coaches that are a little insane. He really loves the game. I see that in him, along with his staff, Kimani, and everybody. They’re recruiting me super hard. Kimani has done a really good job of watching film with me, coming down to my school a couple days ago. I had a great talk with them. They’ve done a really good job and UConn has done great with their guards. They’ve had four people drafted and even if they didn’t get drafted, they still made a roster so what they’re doing is working and they did just win two National Championships. So they have something really good going down at UConn so really blessed to have the chance to be a part of it.”

2025 four-star point guard Acaden Lewis, considered one of the top shooters and playmakers in the class, trimmed his choices from eight schools to four on Saturday.
