Known for his controversial opinions and large personality, he often shares ambitious goals for his sons. This time, he wants to unite them all on the same NBA team. Surprisingly, he doesn’t want them playing for the Los Angeles Lakers. Instead, LaVar Ball has his eyes set on the LA Clippers.

LaVar Ball Wants to Reunite His Sons in LA

LaVar’s eldest son, Lonzo, currently plays for the Chicago Bulls, but he remains sidelined due to injury. His youngest son, LaMelo, was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets and blossomed into an NBA All-Star. The middle son, LiAngelo, took a different path, playing overseas in Mexico and struggling to break into the NBA. Despite these differences, LaVar remains optimistic that his sons can team up. He believes the Clippers offer the perfect fit for his family.

“I want them all to play for the Clippers,” LaVar stated.

LaVar’s dissatisfaction with the Lakers plays a big role in his decision. The team traded Lonzo after drafting him second overall in 2017.

“I’m not going back to the Lakers for how you did Lonzo. So why do I bring the other two?” LaVar emphasized.

The Lakers no longer fit into his plans for his sons. LaVar highly respects LA Clippers owner Steve Ballmer and even made a playful connection between their names.

“Steve Ballmer, that’s my guy. I like him; I like his style,” LaVar said. “That’s why I tell him my last name is Ball, his last name is Ballmer; we push the Ball more,” he joked.

A Pipe Dream?

LaVar’s latest desire faces significant obstacles. LaMelo signed a five-year, $203 million contract extension with the Hornets in 2023. He has solidified his role as the team’s cornerstone player. While LaVar urged the Hornets to trade LaMelo, this move is unlikely given the team’s financial investment.

Lonzo hasn’t played an NBA game since 2022 due to a severe knee injury that threatened his career. LiAngelo still hasn’t made an official NBA appearance, limited to G League games so far. Despite these challenges, LaVar remains undeterred. His enthusiasm for his sons playing together remains strong, though the obstacles are substantial.

The Last Word

This idea could be nostalgic for the Clippers faithful. They could bring back memories of the Lob City days with their ability to throw all sorts of passes.

While LaVar Ball’s vision excites some fans, the reality of all three brothers joining the LA Clippers remains a distant dream. Acquiring all three players presents logistical challenges for the Clippers, both on and off the court. Over the years, the Ball family has attracted plenty of media attention and controversy. This could disrupt the Clippers’ team culture, which the organization may prefer to avoid.

Ultimately, LaVar’s idea of uniting his sons under the Clippers’ banner might generate buzz, but the circumstances make it unlikely. The different stages of their careers and existing contracts complicate the possibility of this vision coming to fruition.

LaVar Ball, CEO of Big Baller Brand and father of Lonzo Ball, LiAngelo Ball, and LaMelo Ball, stirred up social media again.
