It\u2019s official, free agent center Omer Yurtseven<\/a> has signed a contract with Panathinaikos, the Greek club announced Friday. It seems that the two sides have been working on an agreement after Panathinaikos’ interest<\/a> in Yurtseven was reported weeks ago. It now comes to fruition with Yurtseven inking a two-year deal<\/a> with the second year including an NBA-out clause.<\/p>\n

Omer Yurtseven Inks a Two-Year Deal with Panathinaikos<\/h2>\n

Omer Yurtseven has definitely made a significant career move by signing with Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos in the aftermath of being waived<\/a> by the Utah Jazz on July 1st. This decision definitely marks a new chapter in Yurtseven\u2019s journey. Yurtseven’s\u00a0tenure in the NBA has seen its share of ups and downs. The Turkish big man faced limited opportunities with the Jazz, where their crowded front court left him struggling for minutes. In 11.4 minutes per game, Yurtseven\u00a0posted averages of 4.6 points and 4.3 rebounds. Yurtseven spent the previous two years of\u00a0his three-year career with the Miami Heat. His decision to sign with Greek Powerhouse reflects a desire for more playing time and a bigger role. Panathinaikos can certainly provide him with this and I\u2019m told this is something Yurtseven definitely values.<\/p>\n

The Turkish Big Man Had NBA Interest<\/h3>\n

Despite his departure from the NBA, Yurtseven<\/a> remained a player that garnered interest from multiple teams. Most notably the New York Knicks who I first reported in early August expressed interest in the free agent big man. Approximately two weeks after my report, Marc Stein of TheSteinLine<\/a> reported that Yurtseven auditioned with the Knicks. Ian Begley of SNY<\/a> added that the workout was held in July and New York actually put in an offer to Yurtseven although was something he would not consider.<\/p>\n

The New York Knicks are among several teams that have registered interest in free agent center Omer Yurtseven, per sources. Yurtseven and his representatives would like to join an organization where he can get an opportunity for playing time, sources said.<\/p>\n
