It was a dominant run as they went 16-3 in the 2024 playoffs. With the 2024-25 season rapidly approaching, let\u2019s put each NBA team into tiers by their championship odds for the 2024-25 season. Odds are taken from <a  href=\"https:\/\/thegameday.com\/go\/lwos-draftkings\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">DraftKings Sportsbook<\/a> and are as of September 5.<\/p>\n<h2>2024-25 NBA Championship Odds<\/h2>\n<h3>Tier 1: Favorite To Repeat<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/08\/27\/boston-celtics-all-time-starting-5\/\" target=\"_self\">Boston Celtics<\/a> (+295)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Why wouldn\u2019t Boston be in a tier on their own? They are coming off the franchise\u2019s 18th championship in a season where they had the <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.statmuse.com\/nba\/ask\/best-offensive-rating-by-a-team-in-nba-history-in-a-single-season\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">highest offensive rating<\/a> in NBA history. Every key member from last season\u2019s team remains.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Tier 2: Contenders To Dethrone Boston <\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Oklahoma City Thunder (+700)<\/li>\n<li>Philadelphia 76ers (+850)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/08\/27\/new-york-knicks-offseason-a-review-to-date\/\" target=\"_self\">New York Knicks<\/a> (+900)<\/li>\n<li>Denver Nuggets (+950)<\/li>\n<li>Minnesota Timberwolves (+1000)<\/li>\n<li>Dallas Mavericks (+1000)<\/li>\n<li>Milwaukee Bucks (+1300)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Thunder, a team with much youth, was the surprise top seed in the Western Conference last season. They have added <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/harteis01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Isaiah Hartenstein<\/a> and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/carusal01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alex Caruso<\/a> to go along with the core of <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/gilgesh01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Shai Gilgeous-Alexander<\/a>, <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/willija06.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jalen Williams<\/a>, and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/willija06.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chet Holmgren<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Other teams in this tier, such as the 76ers (<a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/georgpa01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Paul George<\/a>), Knicks (<a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bridgmi01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mikal Bridges<\/a>), and Mavericks (<a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/t\/thompkl01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Klay Thompson<\/a>), made a noteworthy addition in the offseason.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Tier 3: Veteran Superstars Hoping For One More Championship Opportunity<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Los Angeles Lakers (+3000)<\/li>\n<li>Golden State Warriors (+3500)<\/li>\n<li>Phoenix Suns (+3500)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jamesle01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LeBron James<\/a>, <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/curryst01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stephen Curry<\/a>, and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/duranke01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kevin Durant<\/a> are far closer to the end of their career than the beginning. The trio has combined for 10 championships, and each would love to add to their total. The Pacers reached the Eastern Conference Finals last season. A healthy <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/butleji01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jimmy Butler<\/a> has led Miami to surprise NBA Finals appearances before.<\/p>\n<h3>Tier 5: Play-In Tournament Sounds Nice<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/08\/16\/spurs-victor-wembanyama-details-1-on-1-with-youth-icon\/\" target=\"_self\">San Antonio Spurs<\/a> (+15000)<\/li>\n<li>Houston Rockets (+15000)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Rockets are clearly an ascending young team that finished .500 last season. The Spurs added veteran leadership in <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/p\/paulch01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chris Paul<\/a> and <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/barneha02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Harrison Barnes<\/a> to team up with wunderkind <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/wembavi01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Victor Wembanyama<\/a>. In a loaded West, it would seem like a victory for both teams to at least reach the Play-In Tournament, with Houston perhaps being the more likely of the two to do so.<\/p>\n<h3>Tier 6: Cooper Flagg Sweepstakes?<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Atlanta Hawks (+60000)<\/li>\n<li>Washington Wizards (+100000)<\/li>\n<li>Utah Jazz (+100000)<\/li>\n<li>Toronto Raptors (+100000)<\/li>\n<li>Portland Trail Blazers (+100000)<\/li>\n<li>Detroit Pistons (+100000)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/08\/26\/chicago-bulls-veteran-nikola-vucevic-reveals-retirement-plans\/\" target=\"_self\">Chicago Bulls<\/a> (+100000)<\/li>\n<li>Charlotte Hornets (+100000)<\/li>\n<li>Brooklyn Nets (+100000)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Nine teams in this tier are complete long shots to win the Larry O\u2019Brien Trophy.
