In February, the Brooklyn Nets acquired Dennis Schroder<\/a> from the Toronto Raptors<\/a> for Spencer Dinwiddie<\/a>. Schroder went on to play 29 games for the Nets last season, starting 25 of them. In those games, he averaged 14.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 6 assists. Additionally, he shot 42.4% from the field and an impressive 41.2% from the three-point line. The 30-year-old has just one year remaining on his contract. However, despite the Nets likely being in rebuilding mode, Schroder reportedly wants to stay with the team for a long time.<\/p>\n

Schroder recently had an interview<\/a> with Marc J. Spears of Andscape. In the interview, Schroder made it clear he wants “to be in Brooklyn long-term.”<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to be in Brooklyn long-term. Hopefully, that works out,\u201d he said. \u201cI want to be a veteran who shows the young people the way and how we should play and how we play as a team. I understand that the NBA is always more individual, but I want to make one team like we had in Atlanta where it was about just winning and really not [caring] who scores. And I want to bring that back to the NBA, to the Brooklyn Nets. And hopefully they see the same vision and of course still compete on the highest level, but that\u2019s going to take some time.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The 11-year veteran has played for six teams since 2020. In addition to the Nets and Raptors, Schroder has suited up for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, and Houston Rockets.<\/p>\n

Nets Are Not Rebuilding According to Dennis Schroder’s Teammate<\/h3>\n

This offseason, the Nets traded Mikal Bridges<\/a> to the New York Knicks<\/a>. This, in addition to the team missing the playoffs last season and hiring a new coach<\/a> this summer, would signify the team is committed to a rebuild. However, according to Nets guard Cam Thomas<\/a>, this is not the case.<\/p>\n

In July, Thomas spoke about the state of the team<\/a>. Despite their outlook, Thomas said that he and the team are \u201cnot going to treat this as a rebuild.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re not going to treat this as a rebuild as people say we\u2019re doing. We\u2019re going to go out there and compete and try to win every game. If we lose, we lose. We\u2019re not going to throw games. We\u2019re going to compete hard. It\u2019s going to be entertaining and exciting with good, young Nets basketball. I can\u2019t wait to see it.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Dennis Schroder Speaks About Olympic Experience<\/h3>\n

Currently, Schroder is the starting point guard for the German team in the 2024 Paris Olympics<\/a>. After multiple wins in the event, Germany is set to match up with Victor Wembanyama<\/a> and the French team in the semi-finals. In his interview with Spears, Schroder talked about representing his country and making history.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s insane. We wrote history already,\u201d Schr\u00f6der said after the win over Greece. \u201cWe\u2019re in the semis. With this team, it\u2019s great to compete. We are like brothers. We\u2019re like family. I\u2019m not just saying it. It\u2019s the real deal. I love all those guys.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Schroder is averaging 18 points and 2.3 rebounds per game while shooting 51.9% from the field and 41.4% from beyond the arc. Furthermore, his 8.8 assists per game is the most in the men’s basketball Olympics<\/a>.
