The Boston Celtics<\/a> brought all but two players back from their championship team last season: Svi Mykhailiuk<\/a> and Oshae Brissett<\/a>. After the team drafted Baylor Scheierman<\/a> and extended Sam Hauser<\/a>‘s contract<\/a>, Mykhailiuk’s<\/a> return seems unlikely. However, the door remains open for Brissett<\/a> to return to Boston in free agency.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the offseason, the forward opted out of his $2.46 million player option. Over a month into free agency, however, Brissett is still unsigned. In his most recent YouTube video on his channel, BrissyTV<\/a>, Brissett opened up about his free agency. The 26-year-old revealed that he is “talking to some teams” and is eyeing more playing time. However, Brissett also said a return to Boston is not fully out of the picture.<\/p>\n

“I want to do my job, and I love basketball. I want to play. So that\u2019s really it. You know, I\u2019m still a free agent now, talking to some teams. You guys will all see, obviously, when it happens, where I end up. But, you know, that\u2019s full transparency, man. Like, at the end of the day, that\u2019s what it comes down to. I loved every single part about being a Boston Celtic. And, you know, I could go back. Who freaking knows? The door is not closed fully. It\u2019s like, it\u2019s like right there, but it\u2019s not closed fully.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Last season was Brissett’s first with the Celtics. Despite not playing a major role on the team, Celtics fans grew to love Brissett for his high-energy playstyle. On the year, he averaged 3.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.<\/p>\n

Currently, the Celtics have one roster spot remaining. However, according to The Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach<\/a>, the team will likely keep that spot open heading into the regular season.<\/p>\n

“The Boston Celtics have filled 14 of their 15 roster spots and are likely to leave the final spot vacant heading into the regular season. The Celtics will maintain flexibility with the open roster spot while saving on the luxury tax.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Oshae Brissett Admits He Probably Won’t Get Playing Time if He Returns<\/h3>\n

According to Brissett himself, playing time is what he values most as a free agent. On the court, the Syracuse<\/a> alum is versatile, athletic, and plays with good energy on both sides of the floor. Additionally, he is a good rebounder for his size, which allows him to play in small ball lineups. In his video, Brissett acknowledged that, if he returns to Boston, it would be just for “the vibes.”<\/p>\n

“All I want to do is play, bro. Like if I go back to Boston, like how all the fans and you guys want me to come back, I\u2019m literally going back for the vibes, you know what I\u2019m saying? I\u2019m not 36, I\u2019m 26, so I can\u2019t go nowhere for the vibes. I want to play basketball. I got a lot of juice left, bro. I\u2019m in the prime of my athleticism and career. You know, I\u2019m supposed to be playing. That\u2019s all I was looking for, bro. That\u2019s all I wanted.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

As the roster currently stands, it seems unlikely Brissett would be a constant contributor. However, with a return still on the table, it will be interesting to see if Brissett re-signs with the Celtics<\/a> after all.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
