He instead went to play in the Overtime Elite league for Team Overtime, a league for younger players based in Atlanta, Georgia. It is where twin brothers Amen Thompson and Ausar Thompson played before they were selected with the fourth and fifth overall picks respectively in the 2023 NBA Draft. Barlow will always be the answer to a trivia question as he was the first to play in an NBA game that took part in the Overtime Elite.

After not hearing his name called in the 2022 NBA Draft, Barlow signed a two-way deal with the San Antonio Spurs. He also did likewise in the 2023-24 season for San Antonio. In two seasons, the six-foot-nine Barlow has appeared in 61 games for the Spurs (28 in 2022-23, 33 in 2023-24). In 13.6 minutes per contest, he has posted career averages of 4.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists. The 21-year-old has shot 51.3% from the field, 23.1% (3-13) from three-point range, and 70.1% from the charity stripe.

Barlow made his one and only career start on January 13, 2024, in a game against the Chicago Bulls. His most productive outing came on April 9, 2023, as San Antonio took on the Dallas Mavericks. In that outing, Barlow posted career-highs with both his 21 points and his 19 rebounds.

Barlow Balled Out In The Showcase Cup Last Season

Playing for the Austin Spurs in the G League, Barlow really showed out in Showcase Cup games last season. In 12 Showcase Cup contests, he posted per-game averages of 25.6 points and 7.8 rebounds while shooting an impressive 57.8% from the field. Barlow performed well in his seven G League regular season games as well with averages of 21.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and 1.6 blocks.

Barlow will likely receive a lot of playing time for the College Park Skyhawks who are the Atlanta Hawks G League affiliate. Can he show enough to earn a steady rotation spot with the Hawks? He is a solid, low-risk pickup for Atlanta as he is still just 21 years old. The Hawks have begun to trend younger after taking 19-year-old Zaccharie Risacher with the first overall pick and acquiring 21-year-old Dyson Daniels in the deal that sent Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans.

As reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Atlanta Hawks are signing forward Dominick Barlow to a two-way contract.
