Queta and Springer are the two only players who are on standard NBA contracts. With Queta recently signing a new deal this offseason. Queta could be a valuable rotational big man for the Celtics with Kristaps Porzingis sidelined to start the season. In 28 games with the Celtics last year Queta averaged 5.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and .8 blocks per game. Queta is a high-energy rebounder and rim protector but needs to improve his offensive consistency and basketball IQ to get more minutes. This development can start in the Summer League.

Springer was acquired from the 76ers at the deadline. The 21-year-old guard has solid upside as a point-of-attack defender and will be one of the Celtics’ top Summer League players. Notably, this will be Springer’s fourth Summer League with the previous three all being with the 76ers. Last year Springer led the Sixers in scoring averaging 22.3 points per game.

Walsh the Celtics second-round pick last year hopes to earn a standard contract after spending much of last season in the G League. Last summer Walsh led the Celtics in scoring averaging 16 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists while shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc. He will certainly be one of the Celtics’ best players this summer.

The Celtics re-signed Peterson on a two-way deal earlier this summer. He appeared in just three games with the Celtics last season but has upside as a six-foot-eight shooter. Davison, the 2022 second pick will play in his third straight Summer League. In two years with the Celtics Davison has only appeared in 20 total games but he has shined in the G League. Davison was re-signed by the Celtics on a two-way deal shortly after the Summer League roster was announced.

The Rookies

The Celtics rookies, 30th overall pick Baylor Scheierman of Creighton, and 54th overall pick Anton Watson of Gonzaga will play important roles. Scheierman projects to be a perfect fit with the Celtics’ systems as a knockdown wing shooter with a well-rounded skill set. The 23-year-old super- senior shot 38 percent from three on 8.3 attempts per game while impressively averaging 9.0 rebounds and 3.9 assists. A stellar Summer League outing could help Scheierman earn some regular season minutes. Watson also provides high-level rebounding averaging 7.1 rebounds last season as a six-foot-eight forward. He also averaged 14.5 points giving the Celtics some extra wing scoring this versatile skill set makes Wastson an ideal fit.

Other Notable Names

Ron Harper Jr. the son of five-time champion Ron Harper also joins the squad.
