Aside from re-signing <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jamesle01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LeBron James<\/a> to a <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/07\/03\/nba-all-time-leading-scorer-lebron-james-agrees-deal-lakers\/\" target=\"_self\">max deal<\/a>, they also put pen to paper on a contract for his son, second-round pick <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jamesbr02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bronny James<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Lakers Rookie Signs Four-Year Contract<\/b><\/h2>\n<h3><b>Contract Structure<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to ESPN, the Lakers signed the younger James to a four-year, $7.9 million deal, with a $2.4 million team option on the final season. Putting him on such a contract ensures that the Lakers can develop him for 2-3 seasons while adding team control in the fourth year. And for us, prioritizing player development, we view Bronny as case study [no.] 1, because his base level of feel, athleticism, point-of-attack defender, shooting, passing\u2014there\u2019s a lot to like about his game. As we sort of build out our player development program holistically, he\u2019s gonna have a great opportunity to become an excellent NBA player.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And while James Jr. recognizes there\u2019s an \u201camplified amount of pressure\u201d when it comes to him joining LeBron and the Lakers, <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/live\/HUaiohuMJZs?si=ObkaUVIHMm-_zlLd&amp;t=560\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">he remains unfazed<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by it:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI\u2019ve already seen it, social media, the internet and stuff, talking about how I might not deserve an opportunity. But I\u2019ve been dealing with stuff like this my whole life. It\u2019s nothing different\u2014it\u2019s more amplified for sure\u2014but I can get through it.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><b>How Bronny Will Adjust to the NBA<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Redick noted that the incoming player development program will include tactical, physical, and mental growth\u2014areas Bronny could thrive in, especially over the course of a few seasons.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And even though Bronny may have a slight advantage entering the NBA, he noted that his onboarding process with the Lakers won\u2019t be easier than any other newcomer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI had my own basketball stuff going on, so I wasn\u2019t really in my dad\u2019s pocket all day, following him around the Lakers facility,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019ve had some stories, but I don\u2019t know exactly what\u2019s to come.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bronny will now have ample time to develop into his own role and control his own narrative in his first few seasons with the Lakers, both with\u2014and eventually, without\u2014LeBron on the court.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Los Angeles Lakers have finally made some moves days after free agency opened.
