According to ESPN\u2019s Adrian Wojnarowski, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/q\/quickim01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Immanuel Quickley<\/a> intends to sign a five-year $175 million contract with the Toronto Raptors. Securing Quickly as a part of the team&#8217;s long-term future. This comes less than a week after <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/06\/24\/toronto-raptors-sign-rising-star-to-max-contract-scottie-barnes\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">Toronto announced<\/a> reaching a contract extension with all-star<a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/barnesc01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Scottie Barnes<\/a> for $227 million fully guaranteed with a max of $270 million.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">ESPN Sources: Guard Immanuel Quickley intends to sign a five-year, $175 million contract to stay with the Toronto Raptors. In 38 games with the club, he averaged 18.6 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 6.8 assists with almost a steal per game. The young guard shot the ball lights out from deep, knocking down nearly 40% of his threes with the Raptors. Quickley is a high-level off-the-dribble three-point shooter, knocking down 37% of his <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/stats\/player\/1630193\/shots-dash?SeasonType=Regular+Season\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">pull-up threes<\/a>. Quickley\u2019s playmaking grew rapidly with Toronto. He recorded <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/gamelog\/_\/id\/4395724\/immanuel-quickley\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">nine games<\/a> with 10 or more assists with the Raptors including a career-high 18 against the Phoenix Suns. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quickley proved to be a reliable scorer dropping 20 or more points in over half of his games during his time in Toronto. Many of them came without Barnes or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/barrerj01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RJ Barrett<\/a> playing. After coming off the bench to start his career, Quickley has taken advantage of his new opportunity with the Raptors. He blossomed into a quality starter with the Raptors starting in each of his 38 games with the team.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His new contract will average $35 million a season and will make Quickley the 18th highest-paid point guard in the league according to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.spotrac.com\/nba\/contracts\/_\/position\/g\/sort\/average\/dir\/desc\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spotrac<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. While the deal is banking on Quickley\u2019s continued improvement. It\u2019s important to remember that the salary cap is rising and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/bryantoporek\/2024\/05\/30\/the-nbas-new-tv-deals-are-poised-to-send-the-salary-cap-skyrocketing\/?sh=6613f94a3ad2\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> is expected to rise for the next<\/a> few years. Quickley\u2019s contract will eat up 25% of the cap in the 2024-25 season that percentage will decrease as the contract ages.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Building a new era<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Toronto acquired Quickley as well as Barrett<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2023\/12\/30\/trade-grades-og-anunoby-dealt-to-the-knicks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"> in a midseason trade with New York<\/a>. The two former Knicks alongside Barnes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/dickgr01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gradey Dick<\/a>, and rookie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/walteja01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ja\u2019Kobe Walter<\/a> give the Raptors a young core to build from. Toronto is looking to add to its young core. Taking flyers out on two former lottery picks <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/a\/agbajoc01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ochai Agbaji<\/a> and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/mitchda01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Davion Mitchell<\/a>.\u00a0 As well as adding<a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/06\/27\/grading-the-toronto-raptors-2024-nba-draft\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"> three second-round picks<\/a> from this year&#8217;s draft<a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/mogbojo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Jonathan Mogbo<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/sheadja01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jamal Shead<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/chomcul01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ulrich Chomche<\/a>. Toronto has brought in a swell of new young talent and is set to start their rebuild and get back to competing. A hole that was once filled by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/v\/vanvlfr01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fred VanVleet<\/a> before he left in <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2023\/07\/01\/fred-vanvleet-is-now-a-rocket\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\">free agency to the Houston Rockets<\/a>. Toronto has been lacking a true star point guard since<a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lowryky01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Kyle Lowry<\/a> was traded in the 2020-21 season. Quickley isn\u2019t quite on that level yet.
