It was based on a certain way of communicating with players and teaching them. And, probably\u2014most importantly\u2014it was about player development.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He added: \u201cAt the core of [the Collective Bargaining Agreement] is gonna be the importance of a great franchise like the Lakers modernizing and leaning into developing our young players.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Redick said his motivation for joining the Lakers was one of service\u2014to the team, its players, and fanbase\u2014but also about \u201ccompetition, performance, collaboration, [and] leadership.\u201d He added those factors will be pivotal as he assembles his staff and heads into the decision-making process this offseason.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first-year coach also noted that with the game\u2019s evolution comes a need for adaptability, <\/span><a  href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/SpectrumSN\/status\/1805345620900954563\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">something he says he\u2019ll strive to do daily<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and that conversations on how to use certain Lakers will require buy-in on the players\u2019 part.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWith any player on the roster, I can have a vision for how I want to use them, but there has to be buy-in and collaboration,\u201d he said. \u201cI can sit up here and tell you how I\u2019d like them to play, but if there\u2019s no buy-in, then it doesn\u2019t really matter. Part of the next two months is just having conversations. Anthony and I already had a conversation a week ago about some ideas, both offensively and defensively. According to <a  href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/5578883\/2024\/06\/20\/jj-redick-lakers-hire-inside-story\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Athletic\u2019s Jovan Buha<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Redick described a system molded around this roster, focusing on elevating Anthony Davis\u2019 involvement, particularly late in games, and alleviating the constant ballhandling duties on James by utilizing him more off the ball. Keeping James, who turns 40 in December, fresh down the stretch of the regular season and into the playoffs will be critical.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fans and the media got a bit of a clearer picture of Redick\u2019s vision on Monday. That\u2019ll be part of the conversation over the next couple months.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While Redick\u2019s strategies with LA\u2019s superstars remains to be seen, there\u2019s no doubt his high IQ and experience in the league will lead to maximizing the duo\u2019s abilities this season and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Not Deterred by Lack of NBA Coaching Experience<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, Redick proved that he is not deterred by a lack of NBA coaching experience.
