Tucker Agrees to Four-Year Contract With Houston Rockets

Tucker’s contract will take him to the end of the 2021 season.

Last season, Tucker split his time between the Phoenix Suns and the Toronto Raptors. While his mediocre numbers of 6.7 points and 5.8 rebounds per game aren’t eye-popping, Tucker is one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA. In a league with the likes of LeBron James and Kevin Durant, it is paramount that teams vying for a championship have elite perimeter defenders. Despite only being 6’6″, Tucker is a muscular 245 lbs. He takes great pride in his defensive ability and uses his strength, lateral quickness, and fast hands to cause havoc on the defensive end. On top of that, he is a capable three-point shooter, particularly from the corners, where he shoots over 40 percent.

Tucker was originally selected 35th overall by the Raptors in the 2006 NBA Draft. He played just 17 games in his rookie season before going over to Europe, where he played for four years. He then signed with the Suns and stayed with them for four and a half seasons before being traded back to the Raptors at the 2017 trade deadline.

Check out the LWOS 2017 NBA Free Agency Tracker for all of your NBA free agency coverage, and be sure to follow @LastWordHoops on Twitter to stay up-to-date with all the latest NBA news.

Main Photo:

Embed from Getty Images

According to reports, free agent small forward P.J.
