His list features names Laker fans are very familiar with.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Lakers Rumors: Insider Poses List of &#8220;Non-Star&#8221; Trade Targets<\/b><\/h2>\n<h3><b>Background<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The discussion around <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/5528175\/2024\/05\/30\/lakers-rumors-trade-free-agency-offseason-star-lebron\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">top-tier role players<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> coincidentally comes at a perfect time. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jamesle01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LeBron James<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> discussed that exact topic with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/redicjj01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">JJ Redick<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/cqJ2u11OTY0?si=-hw6KJX-Euc5lvgy&amp;t=1044\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">episode of the \u201cMind the Game\u201d podcast<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If there\u2019s teams out here looking to see how to be successful, obviously you gotta have a star. Outside of the big name stars and the teams who are really shaking things up, a lot of these teams aren\u2019t willing to give up a good 3&amp;D guard or 3&amp;D wing, or a starting-caliber big man.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Still, he offered up a promising list of guards and wings who the Lakers could target to boost their team around LeBron and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/davisan02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anthony Davis<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Buha\u2019s List of \u201cNon-Star\u201d Trade Targets<\/b><\/h3>\n<h4><b>Kyle Kuzma<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Former Laker <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/k\/kuzmaky01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kyle Kuzma<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has flourished ever since joining the Washington Wizards. The 28-year-old just had a career year in the nation\u2019s capital. In 70 games, Kuz averaged 22.2 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists while shooting 46% from the field and 33% from deep. The 6\u20199\u201d combo forward has already proven his worth as a scorer. Many agree he\u2019d continue to shine in a better situation, where his team competes in the playoffs instead of the lottery. Seeing Kuz thrive\u2014albeit for a struggling Wizards team\u2014has made some Lakers fans regret the trade that sent him there in the first place. Many are <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LakeShowGo\/status\/1796221476787376506\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">divided<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> over whether the two sides should reunite.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Jerami Grant<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/grantje01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jerami Grant<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is one of two players that the Lakers were previously interested in\u2014<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nba\/lakers\/news\/lakers-rumors-oft-moved-combo-forward-emerges-as-possible-la-trade-option-ml0802\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">most recently at this season\u2019s trade deadline<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Across 54 games with the Blazers\u2014his fifth team in eight years\u2014Grant put up 21 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.8 assists. He shot 45% from the field, 40% from three and 81% from the charity stripe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The veteran 6\u20198\u201d wing has been an offensive generator for a young, rebuilding Blazers squad. Grant also signed a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blazersedge.com\/2024\/4\/6\/24118614\/portland-trail-blazers-jerami-grant-damian-lillard-nba-free-agency-joe-cronin-detroit-pistons\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">five-year, $160 million contract last offseason<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. He holds plenty of skills that contenders desire, boasting a second-straight year where he shot 40% from three. He also put up numbers akin to the 2020-21 season with Detroit, when he was the runner-up in Most Improved Player voting. Despite those positives, however, teams may not be willing to tackle Grant\u2019s enormous contract, leading to questions of whether he could be stuck in the purgatory of the Pacific Northwest.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>Malcolm Brogdon<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Buha views <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/brogdma01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Malcolm Brogdon<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014another longtime Lakers target\u2014as a potential replacement for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/russeda01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">D\u2019Angelo Russell<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> if he moves on from LA. Another veteran Blazer who has stuck it out in the rebuild, Brogdon averaged 15.7 points and 5.5 assists per game while shooting 44% from the field and 41% from distance. However, he only played 39 games (including 25 starts) before Portland shut him down in February due to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.blazersedge.com\/2024\/2\/26\/24084228\/portland-trail-blazers-reveal-malcolm-brogdon-injury-update\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">right elbow tendinitis<\/span><\/a><b>\u2014<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">an issue that stems from his lone season with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.boston.com\/sports\/boston-celtics\/2023\/09\/21\/malcolm-brogdon-boston-celtics-elbow-injury-trade-brad-stevens\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Celtics<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Back in January, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/5239168\/2024\/01\/30\/malcolm-brogdon-trade-blazers-rumor\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brogdon told The Athletic<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that he\u2019s \u201chappy in Portland\u201d and feels \u201cvalued in this leadership\/lead-guard role.\u201d Considering <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/05\/30\/2024-nba-off-season-preview-whats-next-for-the-trail-blazers\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Portland<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s current trajectory and their continuous need for vets, it makes sense for Brogdon to stick around. However, he also has one year and $22.5 million left on his contract. Thus, other teams may be more inclined to trade for him\u2014especially those in need of a veteran facilitator.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><b>De&#8217;Andre Hunter<\/b><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Rounding out Buha\u2019s list is Hawks forward <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/huntede01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De\u2019Andre Hunter<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, whose draft night story actually involved the Lakers. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sports.yahoo.com\/deandre-hunter-lakers-pelicans-hawks-trade-draft-002911010.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">LA selected him fourth overall in 2019<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but the pick was controlled by the Pelicans\u2014who then <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wojespn\/status\/1141827686836375553?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1141827686836375553%7Ctwgr%5Ef65dbcbefb6ea87b2c4f91b132781d32c0121e2f%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&amp;ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Flebronwire.usatoday.com%2F2019%2F06%2F20%2Fpelicans-trade-fourth-pick-from-lakers-to-atlanta-hawks-for-picks-no-8-17-and-35%2F\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sent it to the Hawks<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on draft day. Hunter has since carved out a nice role for himself in \u201cThe A.\u201d In 57 games (37 starts) for Atlanta this season, the 26-year-old wing averaged 15.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.7 steals on .459\/.385\/.847 splits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Still, rivals are \u201cexpecting\u201d Hunter to become <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nba\/hawks\/news\/report-rival-teams-are-expecting-hawks-forward-de-andre-hunter-to-become-available-as-draft-nears-01hz074e0wnj\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">available on the trade market<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, according to HoopsHype. It\u2019s one of many moves GM Landry Fields could make as Atlanta enters a critical offseason\u2014between possibly moving on from the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/y\/youngtr01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trae Young<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211;<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/murrade01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dejounte Murray<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> pairing, selecting a franchise cornerstone at no. 1 overall, and bidding farewell to other key players. Hunter has been a steady 3&amp;D presence on the wing for the Hawks. There\u2019s no doubt he could elevate his game if he joins a current contender. However, his health will be critical to any future success. Hunter has yet to play at least 70 games in a year, with his career-high in games being 67 (all starts) in his 2022-23 campaign. He once missed over a month with a knee inflammation, but <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/nba\/hawks\/news\/deandre-hunter-upgraded-to-questionable-on-hawks-latest-injury-report-ahead-of-matchup-vs-lakers\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">returned just in time to play\u2014you guessed it\u2014the Lakers<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>The Last Word; Which \u201cNon-Star\u201d Should the Lakers Trade For?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Of these four options, the Lakers should seriously consider either a reunion with Kuzma or going after Hunter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While Kuz\u2019s three-point percentage has recently taken a hit, the Lakers have missed his two-way skills as a fluid 6&#8217;9&#8243; wing. His familiarity with several members of the team is certainly an added bonus, and he could settle right back in if given the proper opportunities. Going back to being a third option may not be ideal, but at least Kuz would help LA get closer to another title run.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De\u2019Andre Hunter, who is coming off of his best season at just 26 years old, is another target worth pursuing. His 38.5% mark from three was another career-high next to his scoring average. He is already used to supporting Atlanta&#8217;s stars, and he would have similar chances\u2014if not more\u2014with LA. Hunter is a young wing with plenty of potential. While the young forward is <a href=\"https:\/\/bleacherreport.com\/articles\/10122963-lakers-insider-rui-hachimura-not-being-actively-shopped-in-trades-amid-nba-rumors\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">not officially on the table<\/a>, that could change with Rob Pelinka&#8217;s desire to improve and Rui&#8217;s $17 million salary next year.
