He played in 80 games, starting eight of them in place of Tony Parker. It was Mills’ second consecutive season playing in 80-plus contests, after playing just 51 in the previous season. Mills was a key contributor to San Antonio’s championship squad in 2014, providing valuable production off the bench.

Looking forward, Mills will continue to provide shooting and a steady veteran presence as a backup point guard for San Antonio. He’ll help run the second unit and possibly play some crunch time minutes. Mills may even take the starting job from Parker after many years as a reserve. The Spurs will need Mills to continue his solid play in their efforts to compete for a championship in the 2017-18 season.

Mills is going into his ninth season in the league, during which he’ll be 29 years old. He’s played his past six seasons with the Spurs after starting his NBA career with the Portland Trail Blazers. Mills has also starred for the Australian national team in international competitions.

Check out the LWOS 2017 NBA Free Agency Tracker for all of your NBA free agency coverage, and be sure to follow @LastWordHoops on Twitter to stay up-to-date with the latest NBA news.

Main Photo:

Embed from Getty Images

According to reports, point guard Patty Mills agrees to re-sign with the San Antonio Spurs for $50 million over four years.

[34,62,3
65,96,297,202,1022,55
post-7902","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-spurs","category-nba","category-news","tag-basketball","tag-nba","tag-nba-free-agency","tag-nba-news","tag-patty-mills","tag-san-antonio-spurs
["GET
