Small forward Jamier Jones weighed all of his recruiting options heavily before committing to Providence. The 6’6″, 210-pound prospect attended Oak Ridge in Orlando, close to his birthplace of Bradenton, Florida. With the recruitment process being prolonged for Jones, ultimately it came down to a select few schools. South Carolina, Louisiana State University, Ohio State, and Kansas were among some of the finalists, along with English’s Friars. With the heavy favorite looming to be the Gamecocks in Columbia, Jones’ thought the culture at Providence was too hard to turn down.

Five Star Small Forward Commits to Friartown

Background

At Oak Ridge during his junior year campaign, Jamier Jones averaged 19.2 PPG, 3.2 APG, and 8.5 RPG. The length that Jamier possesses on the wing makes him an intriguing prospect. With a huge name added to their scholarship list for a future season, this will draw interest from other top prospects on what the Friars have to offer. The 2025 Top 20 recruit took a few visits to Providence, as well as his latest one this past spring. The last visit the five star took to the Ocean State was the one to stamp his approval on a future in Friartown. The passion from the fanbase is what stuck to Jamier most in his decision process.

NEWS: 2025 5⭐️ Jamier Jones tells @LeagueRDY he’s committed to Providence.

“Shout out to the love from all the PC fans, love that fan base already, makes me feel welcomed,” he told me.

He chose the Friars over Kansas, Houston, LSU, South Carolina and Ohio State. #16 in the… pic.twitter.com/xB32kb8Ywm

— 24/7 High School Hoops (@247HSHoops) May 12, 2024

Jamier Jones was considered one of the best remaining small forwards in the 2025 class, and Kim English did all he can to get a hold of him.
