He has a player option for the 2018-19 season, meaning that Durant could opt out and become a free agent again next summer, in 2018.

Last season, Durant came to play in the Bay Area after spending the first nine years of his career with the Oklahoma City Thunder (aside from his first season, when the franchise was still the Seattle Supersonics). Durant averaged 25.1 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game in his first campaign the Warriors. During his time with the Thunder, Durant racked up a ton of points, winning four scoring titles. However, in the 2016-17 season, he saw a drop in that category, mostly due to the presence of star guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. Alongside the backcourt stars, Durant produced at a high level last season and helped lift the Warriors to their second championship in three years. Durant also won the 2017 NBA Finals MVP.

Going forward, Durant will continue to be a key ingredient to the potential success of the Warriors, as he remains one of the best all-around players in the association.

Durant is going into his 11th season in the league, during which he’ll be 29 years old. The Seattle Supersonics (now Oklahoma City Thunder) selected Durant with the second overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft.

Check out the LWOS 2017 NBA Free Agency Tracker for all of your NBA free agency coverage, and be sure to follow @LastWordHoops on Twitter to stay up-to-date with the latest NBA news.

Main Photo:

Embed from Getty Images

According to reports, Kevin Durant agrees to re-sign with the Golden State Warriors.
