In light of multiple buyouts at the trade deadline, Monty Williams has now explained why there were so many Detroit Pistons buyouts.<\/p>\n
The trade deadline saw a lot of action for Detroit, which isn’t surprising if you take a look at the season they’re having so far. Their approach involved the release of multiple veterans, whilst adding some younger talent to their roster.<\/p>\n
The Pistons are currently sitting slightly above the bottom of the standings, only ahead of the Washington Wizards. They decided to allow their veteran players to join other teams in a better position. The move saw Mike Muscala<\/a>, Shake Milton<\/a>, Danilo Gallinari<\/a>, and Danuel House<\/a> depart from the team.<\/p>\n Monty Williams was directly asked for more of an explanation as to why these moves were made.<\/p>\n \u201cWe felt like we wanted to do the right thing by players who weren\u2019t playing,” said the Pistons head coach. “Troy has always been about doing right by the player,\u201d said Williams.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n A few of these players have already moved on and are ready for their new challenge. Gallinari went on to sign for the Milwaukee Bucks<\/a>, and Mike Muscala made a return to the OKC Thunder<\/a>.<\/p>\n Giannis Antetekounmpo was quick to sing Danilo’s praises, and went on to talk about the experience he brings to the Milwaukee team. With the 14 years of experience Gallinari has in the league, Giannis sees him as a great fit.<\/p>\n “It is easy to play with Gallo. He is so smart,”\u00a0<\/em>Antetokounmpo\u00a0said<\/a>. “He has been around a long time. He knows how to play the game.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Shake Milton signed for New York Knicks<\/a> and was able to agree on a contract buyout which allowed him playoff eligibility. He only managed to play four games for Detroit since signing from the Minnesota Timberwolves.<\/p>\n The deal included Troy Brown Jr, as well as a 2030 first-round pick. Shake went on to play four games for Detroit, averaging 6.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists.<\/p>\n Milton said his goodbyes after the Pistons lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers 105-96. According to Detroit News<\/a>, he said goodbye to his teammates one by one.
