This time, NBA insider Marc Stein has listed LA as a suitor for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/brownbr01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Bruce Brown<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the now-Raptors guard who gave LA problems in the 2023 Western Conference Finals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With a plethora of names already mentioned, where does Brown rank on a list of Lakers\u2019 trade targets, and should LA even consider a move for him given their recent success?<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>NBA Rumors: Should Lakers Trade for Ex-Conference Finals Foe?<\/h2>\n<h3><b>Background<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bruce Brown made a name for himself during Denver\u2019s championship run. The 6-foot-4 guard\/forward averaged 12 points (.511\/.316\/.857 splits), four rebounds, two assists and one steal in the 2023 playoffs. His efforts not only brought him well-deserved acclaim, but also a two-year, $45 million contract with the Indiana Pacers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brown\u2019s time with the Pacers was short-lived, but still memorable. In 33 games\u2014all starts\u2014the 27-year-old put up 12.1 points on nearly 48% shooting from the field. He remained a steady facilitator and defender, averaging three assists and one steal for head coach Rick Carlisle. Still, the Pacers moved him to the Raptors in a three-team deal that <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2024\/01\/18\/3-reasons-why-the-pacers-won-the-pascal-siakam-trade\/\" target=\"_self\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">landed them<\/span><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/siakapa01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Pascal Siakam<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brown has only played two games for Toronto, but has remained efficient in both contests. He\u2019s averaged 11.5 points on 55% shooting, in addition to five rebounds and one steal. Brown is reprising his role as a backup to\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/schrode01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Dennis Schr\u00f6der<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0as Toronto enters a new direction.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>The Latest on the Lakers and Bruce Brown<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As of now, both Stein and Shams Charania pointed out that Brown is the latest name on a long list of Lakers targets.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">&quot;The Lakers are doing their due diligence. It\u2019s not different from most of the other players that the team is looking into, and there certainly are avenues for a deal to get done.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Marc Stein\u2019s sources have revealed the exact <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/lakersnation.com\/lakers-rumors-raptors-asking-for-first-round-pick-quality-player-for-bruce-brown\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">asking price<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the defending champion: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201ca future first-round pick and a quality player \u2026 at a minimum.\u201d <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Lakers have both of those at their disposal, with key players making significant salaries and at least a 2029 or 2030 first-rounder.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Should the Lakers Trade for Bruce Brown?<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With LA\u2019s recent success, it makes sense for many fans to say, \u201cIf it ain\u2019t broke, don\u2019t fix it.\u201d However, it\u2019s also clear that the Lakers&#8217; list of trade targets would help them in one way or another. Folks may jump at the chance to acquire someone who was on the other side of their championship hopes. However, Brown is someone the Lakers may want to steer clear of.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brown isn\u2019t much of a scorer or playmaker like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/murrade01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Dejounte Murray<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/roziete01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Terry Rozier<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, though he has a leg up in terms of his defense and versatility, and he fills some needs on both ends of the floor.
