There was also speculation that a sleeper team like the Toronto Raptors would swing a trade. Ultimately, former Bucks NBA Finals counterparts the Phoenix Suns became the third party in this trade.<\/p>\n<p>Full trade details per Adrian Wojnarowksi:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; The Bucks get Damian Lillard.<br \/>\n&#8211; Blazers acquire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/holidjr01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Jrue Holiday<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/a\/aytonde01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Deandre Ayton<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/camarto01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Toumani Camara<\/strong><\/a>, a 2029 unprotected first-round pick from Milwaukee, and unprotected swap rights with the Bucks in 2028 and 2030.<br \/>\n&#8211; Suns add <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/n\/nurkiju01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Jusuf Nurkic<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/littlna01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Nassir Little<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/johnske07.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Keon Johnson<\/strong><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/a\/allengr01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Grayson Allen<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Giannis Gets a Second Star<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2023\/08\/25\/nba-rumors-giannis-antetokounmpo-reveals-uncertain-future-with-bucks\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>Giannis Antetokounmpo<\/strong><\/a> should be happy with the Bucks haul in this trade. Despite losing Holiday and the defense he brings, Milwaukee now has a second star to take some of the offensive load off of Antetokounmpo. The Bucks want to win now and are betting that Lillard helps get them back atop the Eastern Conference.<\/p>\n<h3>Portland&#8217;s Plan<\/h3>\n<p>Portland not only added Ayton, but the Blazers are also looking to move Holiday. They are committing to their young core of guards; <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2023\/07\/04\/scoot-henderson-is-poised-to-make-an-impact-as-portlands-new-point-guard\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>Scoot Henderson<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2023\/08\/17\/top-25-nba-players-under-25-no-23-anfernee-simons\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>Anfernee Simons<\/strong><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2022\/05\/29\/shaedon-sharpe-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>Shaedon Sharpe<\/strong><\/a>. The first-round picks, along with Ayton, and whatever comes back in a Holiday trade, could set the Trail Blazers up with a chance to build a contender in the next few years.<\/p>\n<h3>The Sun Sets on Ayton&#8217;s Time in Phoenix<\/h3>\n<p>Phoenix finally parts ways with the disgruntled Ayton, who gets a fresh start with this young Portland core. The Suns will hope that Nurkic can stay healthy and play a supporting role to <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2023\/08\/23\/the-brooklyn-reaper-kevin-durants-brooklyn-nets-legacy\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>Kevin Durant<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bookede01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Devin Booker<\/strong><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2023\/07\/25\/evaluating-bradley-beal-as-the-suns-point-guard\/\" target=\"_self\"><strong>Bradley Beal<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, it was a big blow for many Heat fans. Miami was expected by many to be the new team for Lillard.
