The North Carolina Tarheels and Kentucky Wildcats made them wait until the final second on Sunday to find out.\u00a0 Thanks to a <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/luke-maye-1.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Luke Maye<\/a><\/strong> jumper with 0.3 seconds to go, it is the Tarheels who will join them in Phoenix.<\/p>\n<h2>South Region Round-up &#8211; North Carolina Tarheels Move on to Final Four<\/h2>\n<h3>Buzzer Beater Separates Blue Bloods<\/h3>\n<p>Wildcat Sophomore <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/malik-monk-1.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Malik Monk<\/a><\/strong> tied the contest with a miraculous three point shot with ten seconds remaining.\u00a0 However, as they have done all season, North Carolina quickly turned its opponents score into a fast break for themselves.\u00a0 The fact that this is part of their normal game plan, may have made the last second shot slightly less stressful for Maye.\u00a0 He smoothly received a pass from <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/theo-pinson-1.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Theo Pinson<\/a><\/strong>, and calmly drained a shot that looked destined to go in when it left his hand.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>Tarheels Control Beginning<\/h3>\n<p>After combining for almost 200 points in their regular season meeting, this match up was more slugfest than track meet early on. \u00a0Neither team could get into an offensive rhythm early.\u00a0 Kentucky was hurt by early foul trouble to De&#8217;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/aaron-fox-1.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aaron Fox<\/a> and their other starters struggling.<\/p>\n<p>North Carolina jumped out to a 6-0 lead to open the game.\u00a0 The Tarheels would keep a lead of at least four points the remainder of the half.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=justin-jackson-3,justin-jackson-4,justin-jackson-5,justin-jackson-2,justin-jackson-1&amp;search=Justin+Jackson&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Justin Jackson<\/a> scored 12 of his 19 points in the first stanza. \u00a0Wildcat senior Dominique\u00a0 Hawkins scored all ten of his points in the first half to keep his team in striking distance.\u00a0 Despite limited production from Fox, <strong>Bam Adebayo<\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/isaiah-briscoe-1.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Isaiah Briscoe<\/a><\/strong>, Kentucky was only down 38-33 at the break.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Battle of Runs<\/h3>\n<p>Kentucky would return the favor by scoring the first six points after halftime to take their first lead of the game.\u00a0 The teams then alternated runs as the half wore on.\u00a0 North Carolina would build its lead to five or six points, and Kentucky would then close the gap.\u00a0 Reserve big man <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/isaac-humphries-1.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Isaac Humphries<\/a><\/strong> would score 8 of his 12 points during a 10-2 run that pushed Big Blue Nation into the lead, 64-59.<\/p>\n<p>Much like last Sunday against <strong>Arkansas<\/strong>, the Tarheels trailed by five points with time running out.\u00a0 Also like last Sunday, they picked the perfect time to go on a 12-0 run and propel themselves back into the drivers seat.\u00a0 North Carolina grabbed control, going up by seven points with a minute to play.\u00a0 The Wildcats then hit three triples to tie the game at 73-73 with ten seconds to go.<\/p>\n<p>Luke Maye still had a little magic left though.\u00a0 His 17 points were second on the team to Jackson.\u00a0 However, his final two points meant the Tarheels were second to none in the South Region.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>South Region Most Outstanding Player &#8211; Justin Jackson (North Carolina)<\/h3>\n<p>Jackson averaged just under 20 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 assists per in the four South Regional games.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Valley of the Sun<\/h3>\n<p>North Carolina now heads to Phoenix to take on the Oregon Ducks in the Final Four.\u00a0 The South Carolina Gamecocks and Gonzaga Bulldogs square off in the other semifinal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>CHAPEL HILL, NC &#8211;
