The Lakers get to watch the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/teams\/DEN\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Denver Nuggets<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> hoist their first championship banner before Denver comes to LA on Feb. 8. The purple and gold will be eager to show off their improvements, even more so against the team that swept them in the conference finals. With the Lakers now having more versatility and depth, as well as a chip on their shoulder, expect their matches with Denver to be more competitive and close.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Phoenix Suns: Oct. 26, 7:00pm PST (TNT)<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What better opponent to have for a home opener than the upgraded <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/teams\/PHO\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Phoenix Suns<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">? Phoenix is now looking to take the West by storm, but not if the Lakers can help it. This matchup holds even more weight, considering it\u2019s the first time <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jamesle01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>LeBron James<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/duranke01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Kevin Durant<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have faced each other since 2018. Setting the tone early is critical for success down the line.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Los Angeles Clippers: Nov. 1, 7:00pm PST (ESPN)<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The crosstown showdown begins early when the Lakers host the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/teams\/LAC\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Los Angeles Clippers<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in November. The Clippers didn\u2019t make any major additions to the roster, though they did trade for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/martike04.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Kenyon Martin Jr.<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and draft <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/brownko01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Kobe Brown<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/millejo02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Jordan Miller<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. They also brought back ex-Laker <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/westbru01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Russell Westbrook<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. However, even with minimal moves, the Clippers have always seemed to have the Lakers\u2019 number in the regular season. They\u2019ve won the last 11 games between the two franchises. The duel between the supporting casts is certaining one to watch. The Clippers have always found success with their role players, though the Lakers are looking to give them a run for their money this time around.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As always, watching Davis and James square off against <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/leonaka01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Kawhi Leonard<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/georgpa01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Paul George<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a welcome sight. As these duos come inevitably closer to the end, every matchup is worth tuning into. The \u201cBattle of LA\u201d is always a thriller, and next season is no exception.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Milwaukee Bucks: Mar. 8, 7:00pm PST (ESPN)<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The matchup of LeBron and AD versus Giannis Antetokounmpo never disappoints. All NBA fans should have one or more of these games circled on their calendar. It\u2019s a prime-time matchup between two title contenders, even if fans have to wait until after the All-Star Break to see it. Davis made a statement against the Greek Freak in two games last season. He averaged 33.5 points, 13 rebounds and three assists per game. Giannis, meanwhile was unstoppable, with a line of 39 PPG, 8.5 RPG and 5.5 APG. The Bucks drafted and signed several rookies and also brought on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lopezro01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Robin Lopez<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and former Laker <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/beaslma01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Malik Beasley<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Still, the team runs through Giannis, as well as the equally impressive <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/middlkh01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Khris Middleton<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/holidjr01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Jrue Holiday<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite Milwaukee\u2019s early exit last year, they are motivated to prove that they\u2019re still a force in the league. The Lakers are equally a force to be reckoned with, and these two games will have NBA fans wanting more.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Boston Celtics: Dec. 25, 2:00pm PST (ESPN)<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, no Lakers schedule is complete without a fateful date with the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/teams\/BOS\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Boston Celtics<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Historically, the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.landofbasketball.com\/head_to_head\/lakers_vs_celtics_all_time.htm\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Celtics have 165 regular-season wins to the Lakers\u2019 133<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and they also have the advantage when it comes to postseason wins (43 to 31). With the Lakers evening the score in 2020, there\u2019s no doubt that each team thinks this year is theirs. The Lakers will need to have luck on their side in this matchup and the next one (Feb. 1 at TD Garden), but are more than ready for the opportunity.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Honorable Mention: Return of Former Lakers<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite all of the big names worth paying attention to\u2014in addition to the rookies, who will get their first experience against a storied franchise\u2014there is one more aspect worth noting. Over the course of the Lakers\u2019 improvements, they had to part ways with several players who excelled in their roles last year.
