A feisty, competitive player, Kriisa is a winner and will help the Mountaineers this season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mens-college-basketball\/story\/_\/id\/37914930\/kerr-kriisa-stay-wvu-set-do-very-special\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kriisa explained how he is excited to be a Mountaineer<\/a>. He said, &#8220;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">I am putting my faith back in a coach that put his faith in me. This staff and team are about to do something very special, and I&#8217;m so glad to be a part of it<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.&#8221; A flashy point guard, who had a lot of success the last two seasons with Arizona, will be an excellent stabilizer for a manic situation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>So, what does Kriisa bring to Morgantown?<\/p>\n<h2>Kerr Kriisa Stays in Morgantown<\/h2>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Shooting\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">While streaky and having an interesting shot selection, Kriissa is an excellent three-point shooter. West Virginia was\u00a0<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">third in the conference in three-point shooting<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0at 34.8%. However, they lost\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/erik-stevenson-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Erik Stevenson<\/span><\/strong><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, an excellent three-point shooter, and their leading scorer. They need a replacement, and Kriisa can be that guy. Kriisa<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0shot 36.6% from three last season with Arizona on 6.5 attempts a game<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He can shoot off the dribble, pin downs, and traditional spot-up situations, which allows him mobility in an offense. Kriisa is a solid addition to help the shooting issue with West Virginia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Passing<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Kriisa led the Pac-12 in assists last season. Averaging<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a05.1 assists a game<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, Kriisa is an excellent passer in the pick-and-roll, in transition, and when he gets into the paint. West Virginia only had a 1.02 assist-to-turnover ratio, and Kriissa had a <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">1.96<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0assist-to-turnover ratio which should help get the offense going.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He pushes the pace and makes intelligent decisions, making for a successful campaign this season.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Winning<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">More importantly, Kriisa\u00a0is a winner. He was<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a061-11 in his last two seasons<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0at Arizona and was a starter in both seasons. West Virginia was 19-15 last season,\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2023\/06\/24\/madness-in-morgantown-west-virginia\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_self\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">but they lost a bunch of key pieces<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. Even though Arizona did not go as far as expected in the NCAA Tournament, Kriissa won the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mens-college-basketball\/game\/_\/gameId\/401514413\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Pac-12 Title<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0this past season and won important games in his career. West Virginia gets a player who knows how to lead, win and get players to be successful.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Last Word for Kerr<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Kerr Kriisa staying is good for West Virginia.
