But that doesn&#8217;t stop the rumor mill from spinning about the potential of the Kings adding another talented player to what is their best roster in over 15 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After a few years of monitoring EuroLeague star <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/international\/players\/aleksandar-vezenkov-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Alexander &#8220;Sasha&#8221; Vezenkov<\/a><\/strong>&#8216;s<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> progress, the Kings&#8217; hard work may finally pay off. Venzenkov, who flirted with the idea of joining the Kings last summer, may be willing to make the jump this year. But the 6-9 Olympiacos wing <a href=\"https:\/\/m.basketnews.com\/news-188209-sasha-vezenkov-addresses-nba-opportunity-barca-stint-future-with-bulgaria.html?fbclid=IwAR3z1OzbSAple4sJ_RPySyNgfChJjOqzX1I3k6wBZyfqh6mS8q9nPLY7EcI\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told Sport Klub,<\/a> a sports television service in Southeastern Europe, that he would come over to the NBA if the situation were right.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Of course, it&#8217;s a dream for anyone who plays basketball. The 27-year-old, the leading candidate for 2022-23 EuroLeague MVP, averages 17.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 33 appearances. The winner advances to the Final Four.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Draft and Stash Prospect Sasha Vezenkov May Finally Make The Move To The NBA<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the most decorated players in Europe, Vezenkov was born in Nicosia (Cyprus) and is a Bulgarian national. Vezenkov began his professional career in 2011 at 16 years old with the Greek club Aries, earning his first Greek Basket MVP in his last year with the team in 2015. He then left for Barcelona (Spain), where he spent three years from 2015-201, despite twice declaring for the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2023\/03\/22\/joel-embiid-vs-nikola-jokic-nba-mvp\/\" target=\"_self\">NBA<\/a> draft. After withdrawing from the 2016 <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2023\/03\/23\/march-madness-top-5-guard-prospects-for-nba-draft\/\" target=\"_self\">draft<\/a> as an early entrant, the Brooklyn Nets selected him with the No. 57 overall pick in 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Instead of signing with the Nets, Vezenkov signed with Olympiacos in 2018 for two years and then re-upped with the Thrylos for two more campaigns in 2020. Before this year, 2022-23 was his best campaign, earning 2022 All-Euro League First Team honors and his second Greek Basket League MVP award and first Greek Finals MVP.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>NBA Rights\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Kings are the third NBA team to hold Vezenkov&#8217;s draft rights. <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2023\/03\/14\/did-nets-win-the-mega-trades\/\" target=\"_self\">Brooklyn<\/a> dealt him\u00a0to Cleveland as part of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/cavaliers\/releases\/allen-prince-trade-210114\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">three-team trade<\/a> that involved<a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/hardeja01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong> James Harden<\/strong><\/a> moving from Houston to the Nets in January 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Kings<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nba.com\/cavaliers\/news\/cavaliers-acquire-49th-pick-in-nba-draft\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> acquired him from<\/a> the Cavs in a 2022 draft day deal for the 49th selection, which ended up being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/mobleis01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Isaiah Mobley<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vezenkov is under contract with Olympiacos through 2024. However, he has an NBA-out option that would cost him about $750,000 if exercised.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>How Does Vezenkov Fit With the Kings Next Year<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sacramento is enjoying its best season since 2004-05. The Kings won the Pacific division with a 48-34 record and appear on the verge of winning their first playoff series win in 19 years. The Kings took a 2-0 series lead in their first-round <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2023\/03\/29\/2023-nba-playoff-predictions-western-conference\/\" target=\"_self\">Western Conference<\/a> series over the Warriors on Monday night.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The key to the Kings&#8217; success has been its offense. They led the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/2023\/02\/16\/nba-all-star-break-midseason-awards\/\" target=\"_self\">NBA<\/a> in offensive efficiency and are ranked in the top-12 in pace, field goal percentage, and 3-point percentage.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If Vezenkov does make the jump this summer, he will become the first <a href=\"https:\/\/basketball.realgm.com\/nba\/birth-countries\/90\/Cyprus\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cyprus-born player<\/a> and third with <a href=\"https:\/\/basketball.realgm.com\/nba\/birth-countries\/75\/Bulgaria\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bulgarian<\/a> roots to play in the Association. He would also be a perfect fit for the Kings.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vezenkov is an outstanding shooter with great positional size. He moves exceptionally well off the ball and can play in the pick-n-roll. The lefty has a nice shooting stroke with range off the catch or bounce and can finish through contact. Vezenkov is also an excellent rebounder.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Sasha is one of the best shooters who&#8217;s got great positional size in one of the best leagues in the world,&#8221; Kings general manager<a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/fannation\/nba\/fastbreak\/rumors\/euroleague-star-aleksandar-sasha-vezenkov-to-stay-overseas-for-2022-23-season-despite-rumors-he-could-join-sacramento-kings\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Monte McNair told reporters<\/a> after acquiring him from Cleveland. &#8220;Sasha is a guy we see fitting with Domas&#8217; [Sabonis] passing, with [De&#8217;Aaron] Fox&#8217;s ability to collapse defenses, just another guy who can stand there and hit shots.&#8221;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0<strong>The Kings Have To Restructure Roster This Summer<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Kings have some major decisions to make this off-season. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spotrac.com\/nba\/sacramento-kings\/cap\/2023\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nine players are currently under contract<\/a> for 2023-24. <a style=\"font-weight: 400;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/e\/edwarke02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Kessler Edwards<\/strong><\/a> has a team option, while <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/doziepj01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>P.J. <\/strong><b>Dozier<\/b><\/a>&#8216;s\u00a0contract is not guaranteed.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/f\/foxde01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>De&#8217;Aaron Fox<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/huertke01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Kevin Huerter<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/murrake02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Keegan Murray<\/strong><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/mitchda01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Davion Mitche<\/strong>ll<\/a> are under contract for the next two seasons. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/sabondo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Domantas Sabonis<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/monkma01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Malik Monk<\/strong><\/a> are under control for the upcoming campaign.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/barneha02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Harrison Barnes<\/strong><\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/monkma01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Malik Monk<\/strong><\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lylestr01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Trey Lyles<\/strong><\/a> are the Kings&#8217; key free agents this offseason. However, it may behoove the Kings to renounce the 30-year-old forward, as it would give them around <a href=\"https:\/\/hoopshype.com\/lists\/2023-cap-space-landscape-the-outlook-for-each-nba-team\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$22 million in cap space<\/a>. The Kings could clear more cap space by trading or buying out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/holmeri01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Richaun Holmes<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whatever the Kings decide to do, Vezenkov figures to have a significant role with the Kings.
