The Lakers hitman entered the game <\/span>trailing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar<\/span><\/a>: the all-time scoring leader in the NBA, by 117 points. After a five-star personal performance in the contest, James now pushes closer.<\/span><\/p>\n

His 28-point contribution was vital in seeing the Lakers <\/span>come on top with a 129-123 win<\/a> against the New York Knicks in overtime<\/span>. He was equally impressive with assists, leaving behind a pair of point-guard greats on the all-time assists chart.<\/span><\/p>\n

The point guards, Mark Jackson<\/strong> <\/a>and Steve Nash<\/strong><\/a> had both before Tuesday occupied the fifth position on the assists list. While Jackson led James by seven assists, Nash topped by eight points.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
