After getting swept by the Boston Celtics in disappointing fashion, the Brooklyn Nets must explore trades this offseason to strengthen the roster. The\u00a0James Harden<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>deal has backfired thus far, as\u00a0Ben Simmons<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>did not suit up a single time for Brooklyn since being acquired. The team will also have to figure out the future<\/a> of\u00a0Kyrie Irving<\/a><\/strong>. With this being said, no team having\u00a0Kevin Durant<\/a><\/strong>, let alone the other players on the roster, should be getting swept in the first round of the playoffs.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn Nets: Two Trade Ideas<\/h2>\n

Building Depth<\/h3>\n

Brooklyn Nets receive Harrison Barnes<\/a>, Richaun Holmes<\/a>, and Trey Lyles<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sacramento Kings receive Ben Simmons.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Outside of trades, Brooklyn will have a lot of decisions to make this off-season. There’s Irving’s possible free agency, as well as that of Bruce Brown<\/a><\/strong>. Players like\u00a0Andre Drummond<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Nic Claxton<\/a><\/strong>, Blake Griffin<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0LaMarcus Aldridge<\/a><\/strong>, and\u00a0Goran Dragic<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>will all hit free agency as well. For that reason, the Nets add depth in this deal.<\/p>\n

Barnes remains a very solid player and will compete for the number three role (assuming Irving stays) in Brooklyn along with\u00a0Joe Harris<\/a><\/strong>. Add in\u00a0Seth Curry<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Patty Mills<\/a><\/strong>, and the Nets will have shooting everywhere. Holmes is also an underrated center. His minutes went down this year, but he still put up averages of about 10 points and seven boards per game. Last season, however, he averaged about 14 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks per game. Lyles adds frontcourt depth. He represents a solid rotational piece.<\/p>\n

Sacramento receives a “star” in Simmons here. Should he be determined to play, then Sacramento may have something worth building. They have a primary ball-handler already in De’Aaron Fox<\/a><\/strong>. Simmons can help in that department, bring in elite defense, and also play in the frontcourt alongside another star in\u00a0Domantas Sabonis<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Small Scale Help<\/h3>\n

Brooklyn Nets receive James Bouknight<\/a> and Kai Jones<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Charlotte Hornets receive Nic Claxton (via sign-and-trade).<\/strong><\/p>\n

With all their money tied up elsewhere, and the importance of Brown to the Nets, it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see them unable to hold onto Claxton. Charlotte, on the other hand, desperately needs big man help. Brooklyn should take advantage of this and offer Claxton in a sign-and-trade scenario.<\/p>\n
