The former lottery pick and Duke Blue Devil has shown flashes of potential, opening a market of suitors. For the Atlanta Hawks, Reddish averaged over 10 points per game his rookie season but was not very efficient. Injuries held him back last season, only appearing in 26 games, but in those games, he averaged 11.2 points per game. His production, however, was not very efficient once again.

To make things more complicated, Atlanta is loaded at the wing position. Bogdan Bogdanovic can play both guard positions and the three. Kevin Huerter is both a two and three and an excellent shooter who will see plenty of time. De’Andre Hunter shined last season, seemingly making the three position his own. Due to this, Atlanta may look to ship Reddish out for a decent return on their former lottery pick.

Cam Reddish Trade Ideas

Straight Up Swap with Chicago

The trade: The Hawks send Reddish to the Chicago Bulls for Coby White.

Atlanta’s superstar is Trae Young and he’s going to be the starter for years to come, especially after his max extension. The Hawks’ current backup situation includes Lou Williams and Delon Wright. Williams was extremely important in the playoffs but he’s aging, whereas Wright is a solid defender but not a guarantee in the rotation. White is a streaky scorer like Williams, and can eventually take that role over. Last season he averaged about 15 points per game and shot 36 percent from three.

Although White has been solid thus far for Chicago, they signed two new point guards this offseason in Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso. They invested over $100 million in the duo, so it seems as if White’s time is numbered.

Reddish can come in to be a direct back-up to Zach LaVine, but also play the three behind new signing DeMar DeRozan. Chicago has Derrick Jones as well but can add more depth. The new-look exciting and athletic Bulls will be an ideal place for Reddish to play regularly and develop behind great players.

Orlando Continues to Shape the Roster with Cam Reddish

The trade: The Hawks send Reddish to the Orlando Magic for RJ Hampton and a second-round pick.

In this hypothetical trade, Hampton would land on his third team in his young career. With that being said, he’d be a solid fit in Atlanta. Although he came into the league as a two, Hampton played a decent amount of minutes at point guard with the Magic last season. He remained a good scorer, but also showed his sneaky ability to facilitate. Last May, Hampton averaged 16 points and over five assists per game. Like White in the aforementioned trade, Hampton will play off the bench in the guard positions, and eventually, take over Williams’ duties as the primary point guard back-up.

Orlando does this because they have a collection of talented, young guards. This includes Markelle Fultz, Cole Anthony, and the newly-drafted Jalen Suggs. It’s possible that Hampton gets lost in the mix within this cast.

The Magic are also rebuilding. Terrence Ross is their primary wing, but it would be no surprise if they deal him to a contender for future assets. That leaves the team with Chuma Okeke and rookie Franz Wagner. Okeke can play the four, but will likely start at the three once Jonathan Isaac returns from injury. Having Wagner and Reddish as young wings off the bench will greatly benefit the Magic.

Cam Reddish Joins a Former Teammate in New Orleans

The trade: The Hawks send Reddish to the New Orleans Pelicans for Nickeil Alexander-Walker.

This trade is similar to the others as Reddish departs Atlanta so the Hawks can search for current backcourt depth but also a young player to develop. Enter Alexander-Walker. The combo-guard played well last season, averaging 11 points and roughly three rebounds and two assists per game. It’s safe to say the Pelicans’ offense was a mess last season, but Alexander-Walker made the most out of it. His potential in a much more organized scheme, like that in Atlanta, is very high. He can back up both Young and Bogdanovic, but also play the two alongside Young/Williams. If Alexander-Walker can improve in his facilitating, that he showed flashes of towards the end of the season, then this is a move worth considering for the Hawks.

Reddish joins former Duke teammate Zion Williamson, but also another Duke star in Brandon Ingram.

New Orleans signed Devonte’ Graham in wake of Ball’s departure to the Bulls. They also acquired Tomas Satoransky and have Kira Lewis. At the two, they can feature Josh Hart as well as new rookie Trey Murphy. What they need now is a backup for Ingram, and this is exactly where Reddish fits.
