He had a colorful start when he entered the pros with a myriad of off-court issues in Philadelphia. After a trade to Dallas, Noel’s wayward behavior continued which saw him consequently let go. He made his way to the Oklahoma City Thunder where he found himself in a key role to help lead the team to the playoffs. Once the Thunder elected to rebuild, he made his way to the New York Knicks where he would become a favorite of coach Tom Thibodeau.

In 62 appearances, he averaged 5.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks on 61.4 percent shooting and 71.4 percent from the line. Noel’s interior play led the Knicks to become one of the best defenses in the association last season. His help-side defense and rim protection are tremendous ultimately leading him to also become a fan favorite. Noel assumed control of his destiny following an injury to young center Mitchell Robinson. Robinson fractured his foot and was forced to miss the remainder of the season.

The Knicks have done a great job assembling a team and look likely to be a playoff contender for the foreseeable future. For that to happen, Noel needs to be a part of the team’s future.
