Laprovittola has plenty of basketball experience having played since 2007. Although it took\u00a0Laprovittola until 2012 to make his senior debut for his national team. It would appear that Laprovittola&#8217;s timing was perfect, as he would go on to win gold in his first ever tournament with his home nation. Winning the <strong>2012 South American Basketball Championship<\/strong>, would be the first of\u00a0four medals won at the International level. Laprovittola would also represent Argentina at this year&#8217;s <strong>Rio Olympics<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/2016\/08\/15\/the-san-antonio-spurs-biggest-mistake-in-the-past-ten-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">San Antonio Spurs<\/a><\/strong> will give Laprovittola a chance\u00a0to win a roster spot during training camp.\u00a0Head coach <strong>Gregg Popovich<\/strong> was reportedly impressed with Laprovittola during this years Olympics.\u00a0Popovich also spoke to Laprovittola&#8217;s International teammate <strong>Manu\u00a0Ginobili<\/strong>. Ginobili\u00a0would have played\u00a0an important role in getting Laprovittola\u00a0this opportunity.<\/p>\n<p>Laprovittola will be competing for the 15th place on the roster, and the role of backup point guard. The Spurs regularly sign international players and turn them into NBA success stories, with the most recent example being the 7&#8217;3&#8221; <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/marjabo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Boban Marjanovic<\/a><\/strong>. Marjanovic\u00a0was a very solid bench contributor, averaging 5.5 points and 3.6 rebounds.
