Kim Mulkey has left Baylor as the women\u2019s head basketball coach for the same role at LSU. Big-name coaches changing major programs isn\u2019t that uncommon, but it\u2019s definitely rare regarding this level of status. This would be like if Mike Krzyzewski left Duke. Some things just aren\u2019t meant to last forever, however, especially when home is calling.<\/p>\n
Let\u2019s get down to what everyone wants to know: the terms. Kim Mulkey, 58, has now become the second-highest-paid coach in women\u2019s college basketball behind Connecticut\u2019s Geno Auriemma. If she would have become the top moneymaker, UConn would have had to immediately empty their pockets. Mulkey\u2019s package is $23.6 million over eight years.<\/p>\n
To put this in perspective, Mukley will be making more than men\u2019s head basketball coach Will Wade. She will also be the second-highest-paid coach on LSU\u2019s athletic staff. Football coach Ed Orgeron makes $8.9 million per year.<\/p>\n
