Rondo was an integral piece for the Los Angeles Lakers during last year’s playoffs, so naturally, the Clippers hope he does the same for them.

Rondo, however, has been struggling. Thus far, playing in 27 games, Rondo is averaging 3.9 points and 3.5 assists per game.

These numbers are well below his typical averages, even as he ages. With that being said, the Clippers are confident he’ll become motivated playing for a legitimate contender. Their point guard depth still remains decent, with Patrick Beverley and Reggie Jackson around too.

The price seems steep with the additional picks included, but it’s clear that the Clippers are going all in.

Grade: B

Atlanta Adds More Offense

The Hawks have been on a tear lately, shooting up the Eastern Conference standings. Much of this has been without Rondo playing well.

Williams is averaging 12.1 points and 3.4 assists per game. His shooting splits are also solid. Williams isn’t the sixth man he used to be, but still a strong option to have come off the bench.

Atlanta actually gets better in this trade. Rondo clearly seemed unmotivated, so they brought back a former Hawk who used to live in Georgia. Williams is also a free agent this offseason, so he doesn’t hurt the team’s future plans.

The additional two second-round picks acquired made this deal a steal. Atlanta wins this trade.

Grade: A

Main Image: Embed from Getty Images

According to ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Atlanta Hawks are trading Rajon Rondo to the Los Angeles Clippers for Lou Williams.
