The year is 2021 and the deadline is pushed back to the end of March due to the delayed start to the season. Of course, last year’s pause pushed everything back and who knows when the schedule will go back to some form of normalcy. Still, one of the biggest names drawing attention around NBA trade circles is Norman Powell of the Toronto Raptors, and he should have plenty of potential destinations.

Norman Powell Trade Destinations

Norman Powell has caught fire as of late and has quickly become a no-name to a hot commodity across the league. The 27-year-old is having his best season in the NBA and is averaging 19.7 points including a 43 percent mark from beyond the arc.

He’s been huge for the Raptors, especially considering the innumerable COVID-19 issues they have faced since the turn of the calendar year. However, the Raptors have lost nine of their last 10 games and have quickly dropped to 11th in the Eastern Conference, just one single game ahead of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

[pickup_prop id=”4567″]

While it’s certainly not out of the realm of possibilities that they make their way back up the standings, perhaps a fire sale is coming. Kyle Lowry‘s name has also been mentioned as a potential Raptor to be traded, and Powell is younger and more desirable. After all, he just dropped a career-high 43 points including eight deep bombs no more than a week ago.

Career-high 43 POINTS and 8 THREES for Norman Powell (@npowell2404). 🔥 pic.twitter.com/2ydiPJCJc6

— NBA (@NBA) March 18, 2021

Check out a couple of possible trade destinations for Powell.

Norman Powell Trade Destination #3– Dallas Mavericks

This might seem a bit surprising, sure. However, the Dallas Mavericks need to find a way to get Luka Doncic some help if they want any chance at competing this year or next. As of now, the Mavs are eighth in the Western Conference and sit just a game and a half away from the 10th seed and a possible trip to the play-in tournament.

While some might question the fit, he could slide into the starting lineup or provide big-time scoring off the bench for a team that could use some help. With Powell rumored to be declining his option this summer, the Raptors need to consider trading him away for assets instead of letting him walk for nothing.

This might be a sleeper, but the Mavericks might be bold and this makes some sense for both sides.

Trade Destination #2- Milwaukee Bucks

Sure, the Milwaukee Bucks just acquired P.J. Tucker. However, they still lack guard depth and could definitely benefit from Powell’s scoring off the bench or in the starting lineup.

It’s no secret that the Bucks are gunning for a title sooner rather than later and would be thrilled at a shot to court Powell in an attempt to sign him long-term over the summer. A lineup of Jrue Holiday and Powell with Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo would be pretty dangerous to deal with no matter what team they are facing.

Trade Destination #1- Boston Celtics

Surprise, surprise. The Boston Celtics seem to always be in trade talks and it helps they still have their trade exception to work with. The Celtics are towards the bottom of the playoff standings. In fact, rumors swirled about Brad Stevens going back to college to coach the Indiana Hoosiers. That was always nonsense.

Boston is one game under .500 and at the eighth spot in the East, just a game and a half away from the 10th seed. Their depth is severely lacking. When Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown aren’t on the court, this team really struggles.

The best part about this is that the Celtics could offer him money in the Summer and peg him as a part of their future. He provides them with exactly what they need: scoring. However, the Raptors might not be willing to send him to the Celtics. Then again, we all know that Danny Ainge isn’t afraid to offer a lot to get somebody. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

Main Photo
Embed from Getty Images

Welcome to the NBA trade deadline.
