According to a criminal complaint, he pointed a rifle at a family’s SUV. The family was at the end of Beasley’s driveway while touring homes in the area. Beasley approached the vehicle with his rifle and proceeded to tell the family to get off of his property. He kept the rifle trained on the vehicle as it drove away. Police later found almost two pounds of leafy marijuana on the property, which is illegal to possess in Minnesota.

Timberwolves guard Malik Beasley was sentenced today to 120 days in the Hennepin County Workhouse with work release and home confinement option — to be served at end of the season, stemming from charges via October arrest, per his attorney Steve Haney. pic.twitter.com/PeQqCuGFYK

— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) February 9, 2021

Beasley pled guilty to the threat of violence charge and accepted a plea deal. He will spend 120 days at Hennepin County Workhouse once the season ends. Beasley must complete anger management training, pay a $3,000 fine, three years probation, and undergo drug testing. He will arrive at the prison on May 26th, but this may change depending on COVID-19 precautions.

Beasley is averaging a career-high, 20.5 points, 2.5 assists, and 5.2 rebounds this season. There is currently no word on how the sentence could change if the Timberwolves reach the postseason, but more details could emerge closer to that date. Currently, the Timberwolves own the league’s worst record at 6-19, so perhaps the situation will eventually resolve itself.

Hopefully, this incident won’t get in the way of his bright future in the NBA.
