Brooklyn acquired disgruntled superstar <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/hardeja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">James Harden<\/a><\/strong> from the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/category\/rockets\/\" target=\"_self\">Houston Rockets<\/a> through a four-team trade, forming the latest super-trio of the NBA. However, the trade created some big holes for Brooklyn, fueling the fire for the latest Nets rumors.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the trade, the Nets sent away center <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/a\/allenja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Jarrett Allen<\/strong><\/a> and forward <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/search\/search.fcgi?pid=,princta02&amp;search=Taurean+Prince&amp;utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Taurean Prince<\/a> <\/strong>to the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonsports.com\/basketball\/category\/cavaliers\/\" target=\"_self\">Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a>, among other role players to depart. The result? Brooklyn is left with a serious need to upgrade the interior of its lineup, particularly on the defensive end. In these latest Nets rumors, it appears Brooklyn has targeted a few Cleveland names to fill this hole including <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/mcgeeja01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">JaVale McGee<\/a><\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/drumman01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Andre Drummond<\/strong><\/a>, or <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/loveke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kevin Love<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Nets Rumors: Brooklyn looks to upgrade its interior rotation\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n<h3><b>Roster Desperate for Depth at Center<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the dust cleared from this massive trade, it was quite clear the Nets may need to add some depth to the center position. Currently, Brooklyn\u2019s active roster employs only one true center in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jordade01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>DeAndre Jordan<\/strong><\/a>. Head Coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/n\/nashst01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Steve Nash<\/a> has used Jordan as the primary starting center while experimenting with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/duranke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kevin Durant<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/greenje02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Jeff Green<\/a> <\/strong>at the five in certain rotations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite the experimentation, this has proved a big problem for Brooklyn. The Nets are 3-2 since the Harden trade. We\u2019ll allow some time for the superstar trio of Harden, Durant, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/i\/irvinky01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kyrie Irving<\/a><\/strong> to find chemistry. But, Brooklyn has been dominated inside the paint, especially with rebounding.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to <em>NBA.com <\/em>stats, through the last five games, Brooklyn ranks dead last in the NBA in points allowed at 126.8 points per game. The Nets also rank 29th in defensive rating (119.2) and points allowed in the paint (54.8). The rebounding numbers aren\u2019t quite as horrific, partly because of Durant and Green\u2019s length and ability to rebound as fours. Still, Brooklyn ranks 17th in defensive rebounding percentage. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Nets do have some internal help on the way. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/p\/perryre01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Reggie Perry<\/a><\/strong>, a 6-foot-10 rookie, has already earned additional minutes in the rotation. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/p\/pelleno01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Norvel Pelle<\/a><\/strong> should clear protocols shortly, after signing as a free agent, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/claxtni01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nicolas Claxton<\/a><\/strong> continues to rehab his injuries.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The incoming help is very much unproven. If Brooklyn\u2019s super-trio truly hopes to contend for a championship this season, the interior depth needs immediate addressing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Cleveland: Primary Target to help\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Cavaliers went from an aging trio of forwards\/centers to a plethora of depth at this position following the trade. Cleveland landed both Allen and Prince, aged 22 and 26 respectively, in this deal. Allen and Price have already average more than 25 minutes per game in Cleveland and it appears the two teams aren\u2019t done negotiating deals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sam Amico, founder\/writer for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FortyEightMinutes.com<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, has reported two separate meetings between Brooklyn and Cleveland regarding a deal surrounding McGee. In his first year with the Cavaliers, McGee averages 16.8 minutes per night with 8.2 points, 1.1 blocks, and 6.2 rebounds. Interestingly enough, McGee did not see action in either of Cleveland\u2019s back-to-back wins over the Nets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Nets and Cavs meeting for second time tonight, and sources tell <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FortyEightMins?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">@FortyEightMins<\/a> to expect Nets to make a run at acquiring Cavs backup center JaVale McGee soon. During his appearance on Andrew Yang\u2019s podcast, O\u2019Connor reported rumors that Brooklyn is waiting for Cleveland to buy out Drummond\u2019s salary. The 22-year-old showed flashes of brilliance with Brooklyn this season and during the NBA Bubble. His youth pairs perfectly with the young budding stars <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/garlada01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Darius Garland<\/a><\/strong> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/sextoco01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Collin Sexton<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Kevin Love: The Desperate Option <\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Love, another aging forward on Cleveland\u2019s roster, has also entered these discussions. According to Jason Dumas, a reporter for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">KRON 4 News in San Francisco<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the Nets are interested in Love if neither a McGee nor Drummond deal works out. This seems like more of a last-resort option.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Love has missed considerable time with a calf injury this season. He\u2019s also 32-years-old and in the middle of a four-year, $120 million deal with Cleveland. Brooklyn possesses major obstacles because of its lack of draft stock and salary-cap space. The Nets lost nearly all of their draft capital in the Harden trade, which points to any trades requiring a loss of role players the team already lacks depth on.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Brooklyn desperately needs to add depth to its interior.
