In his 59 appearances during the regular season, he averaged 16.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 5.1 assists across 28.2 minutes per game. Dragic took on a bigger role in the playoffs after Kendrick Nunn was sidelined due to COVID-19. He averaged 19.1 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists during the long playoff run. Unfortunately for Dragic, he suffered a foot injury during the NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers. The Heat eventually fell to the Lakers in the Finals.

Leonard on the other hand started nearly every game he played in during the regular season. He averaged 6.1 points and 5.1 rebounds across 20.3 minutes per game. When the playoffs rolled around, Leonard fell out of the rotation. He only played in three of the Heat’s playoff games last season.

What They Bring to the Table

Dragic gives the Heat an offensive weapon, a floor general, and also veteran leadership. The 34-year-old guard was vital in the Heat’s playoff success last season. His presence is necessary in order for the Heat to win a championship this year. This will be Dragic’s 13th season in the NBA and his seventh with the Heat. He will retain his role as an important bench player for this team as he has in the last couple of seasons.

This will be Leonard’s second season with the Heat. He will give them more depth at the center position. Leonard is a stretch big man capable of knocking down shots from the perimeter. He will likely be called upon off the Heat bench this season.

The Heat are coming off of a long and grueling postseason run. They have a bit of time left to rest in their shortened offseason before training camp starts in December.

🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨I'm glad that I can announce that I'm staying with my #HeatNationFamily 📝❤️🏀🔥 ⁦@MiamiHEAT⁩

Let’s finish the job we started!!!😤💪#LetsGoHeatnation #heatnation #heatfamily #305 pic.twitter.com/ltV769phXF

— Goran Dragić (@Goran_Dragic) November 20, 2020

Main Photo:
Embed from Getty Images

Goran Dragic broke the news today that he will re-sign with the Miami Heat.
