Play will begin on July 31st at Disney World\u2019s Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. In addition to crowning league champion, the restart will also finalize the order of the 2020 NBA Draft, which is currently scheduled for October 16th. Ahead of this restart, Last Word on Pro Basketball presents a 2020 NBA mock draft, based on the current standings.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>2020 NBA Mock Draft \u2013 First Round<\/b><\/h2>\n<h3><b>1.) Golden State Warriors &#8211; Anthony Edwards, Guard<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following his <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.secsports.com\/article\/28877731\/sec-announces-2020-men-basketball-awards#:~:text=LSU&#039;s%20Skylar%20Mays%20earned%20SEC,Defensive%20Player%20of%20the%20Year.\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SEC Freshman of the Year<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> campaign with the Georgia Bulldogs, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/2020\/04\/06\/anthony-edwards-2020-nba-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Anthony Edwards<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0has been a near consensus number one pick. An explosive athlete and arguably the best scorer in this draft, Edwards averaged 19.1 points per game while shooting close to 40 percent last season. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Edwards has an NBA build and scouts expect this to translate into his ability to defend two or three different positions in the league. Early on, the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/nba-teams\/golden-state-warriors\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Golden State Warriors<\/a> can utilize him as a rotational defender, with his long-term potential a huge upside.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>2.) Cleveland Cavaliers &#8211; James Wiseman, Center<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite his short stint with the Memphis Tigers, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/2020\/05\/11\/james-wiseman-2020-nba-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>James Wiseman<\/strong><\/a> is easily a top-five pick in this draft. He played three games at Memphis <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/story\/_\/id\/28751421\/james-wiseman-opens-heartbreaking-memphis-saga\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">before an eligibility battle<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that resulted in both a suspension and decision to leave school early. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A 7-footer with a huge wingspan and exceptional athleticism, Wiseman can learn to have success in the NBA. Playing behind <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/drumman01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Andre Drummond<\/a><\/strong> with the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/nba-teams\/cleveland-cavaliers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a> is a great opportunity for the center, who pairs nicely with the young core of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/sextoco01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Collin Sexton<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/garlada01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Darius Garland<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>3.) Minnesota Timberwolves &#8211; Obi Toppin, Forward<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Minnesota Timberwolves are in need of adding defensive pieces to surround the scoring combo of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/t\/townska01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Karl-Anthony Towns<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/russeda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">D&#8217;Angelo Russell<\/a><\/strong>. Perhaps a surprising pick, but the Timberwolves select Dayton\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/2020\/03\/19\/obi-toppin-2020-nba-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Obi Toppin<\/strong><\/a> at number three. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In what\u2019s considered a down draft, lottery teams will look for players who can make an immediate impact. Toppin is one of them. Toppin is gifted offensively, as he shot close to 70 percent from the field. He adds three-point range and can rebound, especially when playing alongside a true center.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>4.) Atlanta Hawks &#8211; LaMelo Ball, Guard<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For years, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/2020\/03\/21\/lamelo-ball-2020-nba-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>LaMelo Ball<\/strong><\/a> has been waiting to step outside the shadow of his older brother, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/balllo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lonzo Ball<\/a><\/strong>. A lottery selection in this year\u2019s draft will accomplish that. Ball is considered a huge risk-reward pick by NBA scouts. Listed at 6-foot-7, Ball\u2019s size and playmaking ability give him a huge ceiling. The downsides are his shooting efficiency and lack of interest in defense.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Luckily for Ball, the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/nba-teams\/atlanta-hawks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Atlanta Hawks<\/a> are in need of a playmaker to add depth to the point guard position, which is owned by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/y\/youngtr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Trae Young<\/a><\/strong>. Ball should continue to mature into an NBA body and offers one of the highest ceilings in this draft.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>5.) Detroit Pistons &#8211; Onyeka Okongwu, Forward\/Center<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the 2020 NBA mock draft taking shape, <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/2020\/03\/29\/onyeka-okongwu-2020-nba-draft-player-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Onyeka Okongwu<\/strong><\/a> has separated himself as one of the better bigs in this draft. With size and athleticism, he fits a need for every NBA team. Okongwu projects safely as a rim protector and versatile defender. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 28 games with USC, he shot 61.6 percent from the field, showing his ability to score easily around the rim. Aside from an aging <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/griffbl01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Blake Griffin<\/a><\/strong>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/nba-teams\/detroit-pistons\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Detroit Pistons<\/a> are in need of talent at all positions. Okongwu fits the mold for a modern center and is a safe pick for Detroit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>6.) New York Knicks &#8211; Killian Hayes, Guard<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another year, another draft in which the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/nba-teams\/new-york-knicks\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Knicks<\/a> are in search of a franchise point guard. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/p\/paytoel01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Elfrid Payton<\/a><\/strong> has taken over starting at the point with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/n\/ntilila01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Frank Ntilikina<\/a><\/strong>\u2019s lackluster development but isn\u2019t the long term solution. The first overseas player to come in, in the 2020 NBA mock draft is <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/2020\/05\/18\/killian-hayes-2020-nba-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Killian Hayes<\/strong><\/a>, a French guard from the Ratiopharm Ulm (Germany) is a potential answer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hayes enjoyed a breakout year for Ulm, taking on full-time point guard duties and showcasing a great decision-making ability. His passing is highlighted by a creative ball-handle, which makes up for his lack of athleticism. Hayes is considered a lottery option by scouts. If the Knicks feel comfortable finding another potential franchise point guard overseas, then lock in Hayes at the sixth spot.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>7.) Chicago Bulls &#8211; <\/b><b>Deni Avdija, Forward<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/nba-teams\/chicago-bulls\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Chicago Bulls<\/a> are loaded with young talent including six-year veteran scoring machine <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lavinza01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Zach LaVine<\/a><\/strong>. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/whiteco01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Coby White<\/a><\/strong> is the future franchise point guard, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/markkla01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lauri Markkanen<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/cartewe01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wendell Carter<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0are a bright spot for the future. The one hole of this young core? Small forward.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/p\/porteot01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Otto Porter<\/a><\/strong> battled with injuries this year, opening up a need for wing depth in Chicago. <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/2020\/04\/23\/deni-avdija-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Deni Avdija<\/strong><\/a> possesses unique shooting and playmaking ability for a player standing 6-foot-9. The Israeli forward averaged 12.3 points per game for Maccabi Tel Aviv and the Bulls will bank on improving his jump shot and team defense to round out his game.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>8.) Charlotte Hornets &#8211; Tyrese Haliburton, Guard<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/nba-teams\/charlotte-hornets\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Charlotte Hornets<\/a> owned the third-worst offensive rating in the league this season and will look for efficient scoring in the draft. <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/2020\/04\/22\/tyrese-haliburton-2020-nba-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Tyrese Haliburton<\/strong><\/a> from Iowa State fits this need. Haliburton stands at 6-foot-5 and plays as a lead guard with terrific transition and shooting from deep. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He averaged 15.2 points and 6.5 assists per game while shooting 41.9 percent from three-point range. Haliburton doesn\u2019t possess a ton of athleticism but is valuable for his ability to find teammates in space. Charlotte is hopeful that Haliburton will help the offensive efficiency of their young core of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/grahade01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Devonte&#8217; Graham<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bridgmi02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Miles Bridges<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/washipj01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">P.J. Washington<\/a><\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>9.) Washington Wizards &#8211; <\/b><b>Isaac Okoro, Forward<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/2020\/05\/15\/isaac-okoro-2020-nba-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Isaac Okoro<\/strong><\/a> is considered the best lockdown wing defender in this draft. He has the frame and instinct on defense to make him a long-term starter in the league. While <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bealbr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bradley Beal<\/a> <\/strong>and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/walljo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">John Wall<\/a> <\/strong>shoulder the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/nba-teams\/washington-wizards\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Washington Wizards<\/a> load on offense, Washington ranked dead last in defensive rating this year. Okoro needs work on offense but should provide an immediate impact on defense.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>10.) Phoenix Suns &#8211; Precious Achiuwa, Forward<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/nba-teams\/phoenix-suns\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Phoenix Suns<\/a> will have some decisions to make in the frontcourt with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/saricda01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dario Saric<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/baynear01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Aron Baynes<\/a><\/strong> as impending free agents this offseason. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/a\/aytonde01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Deandre Ayton<\/a><\/strong> will be in Phoenix for years to come, yet the Suns will need additional defensive depth in the frontcourt. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following Wiseman&#8217;s early departure, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/2020\/03\/27\/precious-achiuwa-2020-nba-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Precious Achiuwa<\/a><\/strong> saw a ton of action for the Memphis Tigers. In the absence, Achiuwa took advantage of his size to rebound and protect the rim. The 6-foot-9 big man averaged a double-double with 15.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game at Memphis.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>11.) San Antonio Spurs &#8211; Cole Anthony, Guard<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/2020\/03\/09\/cole-anthony-2020-nba-draft-profile\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Cole Anthony<\/strong><\/a> was the second-highest rated prospect in the 2019 recruiting class prior to this season. His draft stock cooled following an injury-riddled freshman campaign with North Carolina. However, he has an incredible upside as a scoring machine. Anthony has all the tools of a microwave scorer: athletic, capable of making tough shots, and he put up big numbers scoring 18.5 points per game with the Tar Heels.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/nba-teams\/san-antonio-spurs\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">San Antonio Spurs<\/a> may be the perfect fit. The Spurs have promising young talent with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/m\/murrade01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dejounte Murray<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/whitede01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Derrick White<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/walkelo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lonnie Walker<\/a><\/strong>. It\u2019s unclear if <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/derozde01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">DeMar DeRozan<\/a><\/strong> will stay long-term with the player option in his contract. Regardless, head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/gregg-popovich-1.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Gregg Popovich<\/a> can find spots for Anthony to thrive in his offense.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>12.)
