The Indiana Pacers<\/strong> have agreed a two-year, $3.6 million\u00a0deal with French<\/strong>\u00a0center Kevin Seraphin<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The deal was first reported by Shams Charania<\/strong> of The Vertical<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Pacers agree to sign Kevin Seraphin<\/h3>\n

Seraphin made official visits to the Pacers on Monday and Tuesday. The deal was\u00a0finalised on Thursday night.\u00a0Seraphin will not officially sign with\u00a0the Pacers until next week. The Frenchman’s contract does include a team option in the second year of the deal, according to league sources.<\/p>\n

Seraphin played 48 games last season with the New\u00a0York Knicks<\/strong>.\u00a0Averaging 3.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 0.8 blocks. The big man\u00a0put\u00a0up\u00a0average numbers coming of the bench in New York,\u00a0but failed to start a single game. Seraphin is heading into his seventh season in the NBA<\/strong>, and is now 26.<\/p>\n

What does Seraphin offer the Pacers<\/h3>\n

Seraphin is the definition of a bench role player. Since beginning his\u00a0NBA\u00a0career with the Washington<\/strong>\u00a0Wizards<\/strong>, Seraphin has played 374 games. Yet the Frenchman has\u00a0started just 31 games in his entire\u00a0career. \u00a0Al Jefferson<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and Myles Turner<\/a><\/strong> have nothing\u00a0to worry about, in terms of keeping their\u00a0starting\u00a0places.<\/p>\n

Seraphin is a good\u00a0scorer under and around the basket. Providing energy off the bench, Seraphin is a good rotation player to have when Jefferson and Turner are resting. Seraphin is also quite skilled, and always finds ways to put the ball\u00a0in the basket when\u00a0in the paint. Seraphin also adds good depth to an already deep Indiana roster.<\/p>\n

The Pacers<\/a> have had a good off-season, and have put themselves in the conversation as\u00a0one of the best\u00a0in the Eastern\u00a0Conference<\/strong>.\u00a0The\u00a0energetic Joe Young<\/strong>\u00a0and the promising Georges Niang<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0were added through the draft. Plus the\u00a0Pacers\u00a0signed talented\u00a0big man Al Jefferson and experienced guard Aaron Brooks<\/a><\/strong> in free agency.<\/p>\n
