Indiana Pacers<\/a> power forward Domantas Sabonis<\/a><\/strong> has signed a four-year, $77 million contract extension with the Indiana Pacers. His contract may rise to $80 million depending on bonuses. The sides struck a deal after weeks of negotiations. Sabonis was an integral part of the Indiana Pacers last season. He posted 14.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game on 59% shooting.<\/p>\n

Domantas Sabonis Signs Extension<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Indiana Pacers are one of the more intriguing teams in the Eastern Conference. The Pacers landed Victor Oladipo<\/strong><\/a> and Jeremy Lamb<\/a><\/strong> this free agency and with Victor Oladipo out until mid-November, the Pacers have a great group of players that might surprise people this season. The Pacers got eliminated by the Boston Celtics<\/a> in the playoffs. That came after finishing as the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.<\/p>\n

Sabonis was in the running for the Sixth Man of the Year award last season. He did that as the spark plug off the bench especially when Victor Oladipo went down. The Pacers plan to pair him up with Myles Turner<\/a><\/strong> in the starting lineup this season. After only starting five games last season, the Lithuanian becomes a full-time starter for Nate McMillan’s team.<\/p>\n

The pairing of Turner and Sabonis were +30 in 66 minutes played together in the pre-season according to John Schuhmann<\/a>. The team will have both big men locked up for the foreseeable future. This allows the Pacers to buy time to see if this pairing will thrive. Last season, the pairing had a shaky stint as the pairing struggled against the Boston Celtics in the Playoffs. The team was outscored by 17 points when they were on the floor. On the other hand, Indiana outscored its opponents by 3.1 points per 100 possessions across 429 minutes the two played together according to ESPN.<\/p>\n
