Newly acquired Brooklyn Nets<\/a> forward Taurean Prince<\/a><\/strong> pens a contract extension with the Brooklyn Nets on a two-year, $29 million deal. The Nets signed the forward the Monday. That came before the 6 PM ET deadline for members of the 2016 draft class to sign their extensions. Prince will be pivotal for the Nets as Kevin Durant<\/a> <\/strong>continues to rehab from his torn Achilles injury.<\/p>\n

Taurean Prince Inks Deal With the Brooklyn Nets<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Taurean Prince was part of a roster overhaul by the Brooklyn Nets and was part of a trade that sent Allen Crabbe<\/a> <\/strong>and the #17 pick of the NBA Draft to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for the Baylor forward. Prince is looking for a bounce-back season with the Nets after not being able to follow-up his rookie campaign. He is off to a good start with his new team. He averaged 16.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists in the preseason.<\/p>\n

The Nets have now locked in two promising forwards this summer in Taurean Prince and Caris LeVert<\/a><\/strong>. With Kyrie Irving<\/a><\/strong> and Kevin Durant on their books and Jarrett Allen<\/a><\/strong>‘s impending contract extension, Nets general manager Sean Marks<\/a><\/strong> is in pole position to keep his core intact while looking to build on a playoff appearance.<\/p>\n

The Nets are one of the Eastern Conference contenders this season. Prince will be key to spacing the floor and adding length in the frontcourt together with Jarrett Allen<\/a><\/strong> and DeAndre Jordan<\/a><\/strong>. He is suited well especially when Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson decides to play small-ball.<\/p>\n

Prince was selected with the 12th overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. He earned All-Big 12 First Team honors as a senior and received the Big 12 Sixth Man Award as a junior while at Baylor.<\/p>\n
