Brown, however, was looking for considerably more. Brown got his wish— roughly $28.8 million a year. By locking Brown up for future seasons, the Celtics ensured that they would retain his services on a reasonable dollar amount while giving the forward a desired, lucrative deal.

Brown, the third overall pick in the 2016 draft, has developed into one of the league’s top young forwards. In two seasons with Boston, Brown averaged 11 points and 4 rebounds, shooting 46.2 percent from the field.

Brown’s Value in Boston

Brown’s usage and role will exponentially increase this season and well beyond due to the absence of Kyrie Irving and Al Horford.

The Celtics didn’t quite live up to expectations in the 2018-19 season, as they got booted by Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the playoffs. Everyone pointed fingers at each other and bickered about each other’s struggles that lead to scuffles and rumors in the media.

Brown has made some struggles but has also shown great potential in the playoffs and the off-season. He also averaged 18 points in last year’s playoffs and was a starter for Team USA in the FIBA Cup where he was one of the better defenders for Team USA.

Brown is a young, two-way player who can flash tons of potential.
