The sorting hat picks students based on characteristics that were seen as desirable by the founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. What if the Sorting Hat existed in the NBA? The NBA Sorting Hat could make some interesting decisions. Who would be placed in Slytherin and who would be placed in Gryffindor? Would anyone get placed in Hufflepuff?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Sorting NBA Players Into Hogwarts Houses<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>Gryffindor<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cYou might belong in Gryffindor. Where dwell the brave at heart. Their daring, nerve, and chivalry set Gryffindors apart\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For Gryffindor, there will be three types of players. Those who stick up for their teammates and aren\u2019t afraid of a good oldfashioned scrap. Players who play much bigger than their actual size. And those who ignore the analytics crowd on twitter, the bravest thing in the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Point Guard &#8211; Ben Simmons<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If there was anyone who epitomizes going up against the all-powerful internet it\u2019s got to be <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/simmobe01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ben Simmons<\/a><\/strong>. He laughs in the face of the three-point shot, choosing instead to live in the paint amongst the bigs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Shooting Guard &#8211; Marcus Smart<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/smartma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Marcus Smart<\/a><\/strong> would likely fight the Pope if it meant winning the game. If you\u2019re a smart basketball player and have the much talked about \u2018Basketball IQ\u2019.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Point Guard &#8211; Mike Conley<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do yourself a favor this season and watch the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/nba-teams\/utah-jazz\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Utah Jazz<\/a>, they\u2019re going to be good. Pay close attention to <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/c\/conlemi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mike Conley<\/a><\/strong> as he navigates the pick and roll and gets everyone open. He\u2019s so good at it that Hogwarts would expel him for using dark magic.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Shooting Guard &#8211; Lonzo Ball<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The eldest Ball Brother has his limitations. However, his basketball IQ is off the charts. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/balllo01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lonzo Ball<\/a><\/strong> is deadly in transition, knifing past defenders and finding elaborate angles to make near-impossible passes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Small Forward &#8211; Luka Doncic<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just look up<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/doncilu01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Luka Doncic<\/a><\/strong> highlights on Youtube. He\u2019s one of the best passers the league has ever seen.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Power Forward &#8211; Draymond Green<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/greendr01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Draymond Green<\/a><\/strong> is a wizard when it comes to help-defense. The <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/nba-teams\/golden-state-warriors\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Golden State Warriors&#8217;<\/a> death lineup was predicated on the fact that Green was always going to rotate to the correct position and protect the rim with his length.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Center &#8211; Nikola Jokic<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not since <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/sabonar01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Arvydas Sabonis<\/a><\/strong> have we seen a 7-foot player who is as gifted of a passer as <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jokicni01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nikola Jokic<\/a><\/strong>. While he might dazzle on offense, pay attention to how often he gets his hands on the basketball while on the defensive end of the floor. Incredibly, he can still be an effective defender when he has some of the slowest feet in the league.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Slytherin<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOr perhaps in Slytherin, You\u2019ll make your real friends, Those cunning folks use any means to achieve their ends\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This House is dedicated to achieving greatness. Yes, most of the evil witch and wizards come from Slytherin, so most of these guys are considered NBA villains by a lot of fans. They\u2019re also all-time great players obsessed with winning. These are players who are focused on their legacy. Because of that fact, the Slytherin team would probably ruin every other House on the court.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Point Guard &#8211; Russell Westbrook<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/westbru01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Russell Westbrook<\/a><\/strong> epitomizes the NBA villain. He plays with an edge and is one of the hardest-working players in the league. He is also obsessed with individual stats which can often be detrimental to his team.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Shooting Guard &#8211; Ignas Brazdeikis<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This pick strays away from the criteria as well, but <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/brazdig01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ignas Brazdeikis<\/a><\/strong> has a snake tattoo on his forearm. It has to be the dark mark and he is secretly a Death Eater.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Small Forward &#8211; Kevin Durant<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/nba-teams\/oklahoma-city-thunder\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Oklahoma City Thunder<\/a> fans think <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/duranke01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kevin Durant<\/a><\/strong> is a snake. The guy went to the winningest team in NBA history so that he could win titles. Draco Malfoy would be proud.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Power Forward &#8211; LeBron James<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most powerful person organizing a group of other powerful people so that they can take over the world. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jamesle01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LeBron James<\/a><\/strong> is not necessarily Lord Voldemort, however, he is often the leader of the leagues most hated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Center &#8211; Anthony Davis<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/d\/davisan02.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Anthony Davis<\/a><\/strong> forced his way out off of the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/nba-teams\/new-orleans-pelicans\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New Orleans Pelicans <\/a>so he could join James and the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/nba-teams\/los-angeles-lakers\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Los Angeles Lakers<\/a>. If that\u2019s not a Slytherin move then nothing is.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Hufflepuff<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cYou might belong in Hufflepuff, where they are just and loyal, Those patient Hufflepuffs are true and unafraid of toil\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is an ongoing joke in the Harry Potter books that Gryffindor takes the brave, Ravenclaw takes the intelligent, Slytherin takes the ambitious and Hufflepuff takes all the rest. They are the lovable House that nobody dislikes. Players who are placed in Hufflepuff are a combination of loyal and lovable goofs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Point Guard &#8211; Frank Ntilikina<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/n\/ntilila01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Frank Ntilikina<\/a><\/strong> is being chosen simply because he has the best nickname in the NBA. \u201cFranky Smokes,\u201d which will live on forever. If that\u2019s not loveable then nothing is. Not to mention it\u2019s very hard to root against him after his performances at the <a href=\"https:\/\/lastwordonprobasketball.com\/2019\/09\/17\/2019-fiba-world-cup-five-takeaways\/\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">FIBA World Cup<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Shooting Guard &#8211; Markelle Fultz<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nobody knows what\u2019s going on with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/f\/fultzma01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Markelle Fultz<\/a><\/strong>. However, it\u2019s hard to imagine anyone who is rooting against the young man. We have never seen a case like this before.\u00a0 Hopefully, he can recover and become the player he was at the University of Washington, it will be one of the biggest stories this season.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Small Forward &#8211; Michael Beasley<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a result of the interview <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/beaslmi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Michael Beasley<\/a><\/strong> did at the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TreyfromNY\/status\/1119596775432761344\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lakers training<\/a> camp, he is sorted into the Hufflepuff house. The NBA has a long history of great players leaving for big markets. If Antetokounmpo staying in Milwaukee, Wisconsin would make him one of the greatest Hufflepuff players ever.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Center &#8211; Dirk Nowitzki<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is another rule breaker. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/n\/nowitdi01.html?utm_campaign=Linker&amp;utm_source=direct&amp;utm_medium=linker-\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dirk Nowitzki<\/a><\/strong> retired at the end of last season, but he fits both Hufflepuff criteria perfectly. Nowitzki spent his entire 20-year career with one franchise. You will be hard-pressed to find a more beloved athlete in all of Dallas than Dirk Nowitzki.
