In the playoffs, only the strongest eight teams from each conference remain. The <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonnba.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/nba-teams\/toronto-raptors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Toronto Raptors<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonnba.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/nba-teams\/orlando-magic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Orlando Magic<\/a> are two such teams, sitting at second and seventh respectively in the East. The Raptors and Magic are set to square off in a first-round playoff series that begins on Saturday.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><strong>Toronto Raptors vs. Orlando Magic Series Preview<\/strong><\/h1>\n<h2><strong>The Toronto Raptors&#8217; Keys to Success<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The regular season series between Toronto and Orlando was split evenly, with each team winning two of four games. The upcoming best-of-seven series will not be nearly as competitive if the Raptors are healthy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/greenda02.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Danny Green <\/b><\/a>and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/gasolma01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b> Marc Gasol<\/b><\/a>\u00a0alone have more playoff experience than the entirety of the Magic roster. That experience becomes paramount come April, and the Raptors have plenty outside of Green and Gasol. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/leonaka01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Kawhi Leonard <\/b><\/a>is a champion and Finals MVP.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/l\/lowryky01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Kyle Lowry<\/b><\/a> has been to the postseason for the past five years, and Gasol\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonnba.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/nba-teams\/memphis-grizzlies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Memphis Grizzlies<\/a> were a Western Conference powerhouse once upon a time. Not to mention, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/i\/ibakase01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Serge Ibaka <\/b><\/a>has missed the postseason just once in his ten-year career.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Orlando Magic&#8217;s Keys to Success<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Magic do pose a threat to the Raptors because of their defense and the steady presence of <b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/v\/vucevni01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Nikola Vucevic<\/a>.<\/b> Orlando\u2019s defensive wings are good matchups for Kawhi and emerging star <b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/siakapa01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pascal Siakam<\/a>. <\/b>The length that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/i\/isaacjo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Jonathan Isaac <\/b><\/a>possesses is a weapon in and of itself. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/b\/bambamo01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Mohamed Bamba <\/b><\/a>is a beast with a 7\u201910\u201d wingspan, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/g\/gordoaa01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Aaron Gordon <\/b><\/a>can guard wings and big men alike.<\/p>\n<p>A first-time All-Star this season, Vucevic (20.8 points and 12 boards per game) carries the load offensively along with Gordon (16.0 points and 7.4 boards per game)\u00a0and can be a solid rim protector on the other end (1.1 blocks per game). Former Raptor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/r\/rosste01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>Terrence Ross<\/b><\/a> has quietly been having his best NBA season (15.1 points on 38.3% shooting from deep) and will likely be a factor in this series.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, former <a href=\"https:\/\/lwosonnba.ms.lastwordonsports.com\/nba-teams\/charlotte-hornets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Charlotte Hornets<\/a> head coach <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/coaches\/cliffst99c.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Steve Clifford<\/a> <\/strong>has been instrumental in turning the Magic organization around. However, the key for the Magic is certainly Vucevic, who averaged 26.5 points in two wins against the Raptors. In the two regular-season losses, he averaged just 13.5.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The Outcome<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Magic have a case for an upset bid over the Raptors because of their regular season success against them. Don\u2019t bet on Orlando though \u2014 the Raptors have too many scorers to cover, and their already-tight defense will become impenetrable come Saturday. The Raptors team the Magic blew out twice won\u2019t show up to four playoff games. Their postseason experience ensures that.<\/p>\n<p>Still, any realistic, self-aware Raptors fan has to have some apprehension coming into the series. The all-too-vivid memories of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/j\/jamesle01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>LeBron James <\/strong><\/a>sweeping their team year-after-year\u00a0weigh heavily on their minds, and who can blame them? Truthfully, fans have no reason to worry. This is a different coach and a (mostly) different team.<\/p>\n<p>The Raptors outclass the Magic in every way. Defensively, with Toronto having Siakam, Kawhi, Green, Ibaka, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/a\/anunoog01.html\" target=\"_blank\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><b>OG Anunoby <\/b><\/a>the Magic are not going to score easily. On offense, any Raptor can score at will on any given day.
