There are plenty of interesting prospects who could find themselves hearing their name called during the later parts of the 2026 NBA Draft. One such player showcased his skill during his final season at Wisconsin: sharpshooter Nick Boyd<\/a>. Boyd, like many of the older prospects in this draft, spent his time playing college ball in more than one place. That doesn’t take away the craftiness and scoring he could bring to a team if he is drafted.<\/p>\n

Boyd’s journey began at Florida Atlantic during the 2020-21 season. So yes, he saw the rise of Michigan’s Dusty May<\/a> during his time at FAU. Boyd saw action in 23 games during his freshman season, but it didn’t allow him to show much of his true potential, as he averaged just 5.1 points per game.<\/p>\n

He took a redshirt season during the 2021-22 season, which only built his confidence going into the following year. Boyd saw his role increase, as he and the Owls made it all the way to the Final Four, in a season where Boyd started all 37 games he played. He also saw his stats jump quite a bit as an 8.9 point-per-game scorer, along with four rebounds and two assists.<\/p>\n

His FAU journey continued the next season, as he remained with the Owls for another NCAA Tournament run. However, his role decreased as he only started 14 games. Despite that, Boyd was able to average 9.3 points per game. When that offseason came, Boyd had to make a major decision following May’s departure for Michigan.<\/p>\n

So he went out west to San Diego State. It was a good choice individually, as he finished the 2024-25 season averaging 13.4 points while also earning All-Mountain West honors<\/a>. Given his redshirt season in 2021-22, Nick Boyd found himself with one more season of eligibility. He followed in the footsteps of former Wisconsin standout John Tonje<\/a> — who transferred in to become the face of the Badgers during the 2024-25 season — and certainly filled that role nicely.<\/p>\n

Boyd and John Blackwell<\/a> became one of the best backcourt duos in both the Big Ten and the country. He had the best season of his career, averaging 20.7 points per game along with four rebounds and four assists. He also showcased his clutchness, especially in some big games, including a road win at eventual National Champion Michigan in early January. He also finished with a season-best 38 points in a key overtime win against Illinois in the Big Ten Tournament Quarterfinals.<\/p>\n

His shotmaking and clutch play throughout the season earned him All-Big Ten honors<\/a> this past season. Sure, his college journey was long, but he more than proved he was a reliable scorer at each of his stops.<\/p>\n
