As the team failed to make the playoffs, the roster is in turmoil over continuity for the next season, with many names up for trade.

After the loss of Jimmy Butler, the team hasn’t exactly been what it was. But even in such a disastrous season, there were some standout players who tried their best to hold the fort and deserve a shout-out. Collectively, the team crumbled, but independently, these names flourished.

The Best Miami Heat Players in 2025-26

Kel’el Ware

After a productive first season in 2024 that saw him become Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month, Kel’el Ware again put in his best for the Heat in his second season. The 22-year-old had small and consistent improvements throughout the year. Keeping up the hustle on the glass, Ware was actively crashing the boards on both ends of the floor.

Though he still struggled at certain points, including dunking and defense, at others he shone; for instance, the players he defended shot 47.1 percent from the field. Moreover, last November and December, he tallied seven 20+ point performances, including a career-high 28 on Dec. 21 against the New York Knicks. His 7’0″ frame and 7’4″ wingspan gave him an upper hand over others in securing rebounds, altering and blocking shots. From his early days, the pro has shown he is capable of becoming a future star.

His presence and absence are both crucial for the team. Going forward, he could either be a part of the trade package offered for Giannis Antetokounmpo, or he could stay and provide ample assistance up front. In both scenarios, he will be valuable for Miami.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="a61405551f80e72f675225f083759bb9" image-id="fwuQGBYyjK3J" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3900px; aspect-ratio: 3900/2700;" ></smartframe-embed>

Jaime Jaquez Jr

While injuries and inconsistency plagued Jaime Jaquez Jr‘s sophomore campaign, this season he showed noticeable improvement. Throughout his 82 games, with an average of 28.3 minutes played, he up up 15.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists while shooting 50.7% from the field. He also landed in the second spot for the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award. One of his season highlights came against the Washington Wizards in April, where he scored 32 points, grabbed three rebounds and dished out four assists, securing the offense.

Unlike others, Jaquez Jr. didn’t break down under pressure, especially in a game’s final minutes. His flexible assists made him dependable as the secondary playmaker, ranking him 39th overall in the league. He also fits well in the Heat’s unrestricted offensive strategy and accumulated an impressive 1,138 bench points in total. With these achievements in his bag, he ended the season on a positive note.

Bam Adebayo

It goes without saying that the Heat have a savior in the form of Bam Adebayo. For most of the season, this White Knight of Miami single-handedly did major heavy lifting, repeatedly came up clutch, and was a key point in the team’s defense with a +5.4 on-off defensive differential. His biggest achievement by far was the 83-point game against the Washington Wizards in March — the second-highest single-game scoring performance in NBA history.

Overall, he delivered a career-high 127 3-pointers, signifying his improvement on the offensive front. His elite skill set has easily made him a standout player and leader despite such challenging circumstances. Adebayo’s hard work has reaped favorable results, and his worth has made him indispensable to the team and untouchable in trade talks.

The Last Word

These players continued to develop well amid a historically low season. However, only Adebayo has a secure spot on the Heat’s roster. Despite their improvements, Jaquez and Ware’s futures are still uncertain. They, along with others, could be used as bargaining chips to acquire a superstar.

© Geoff Burke-Imagn Images

This past season of the Miami Heat was a saga of unfortunate events for all teams to look back on and take a lesson from.
