According to a Saturday story by HoopsHype\u2019s Michael Scotto<\/a>, the Lakers\u2019 search for front office help has led them to probe the staffs of rival contenders.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe <\/span>Los Angeles Lakers<\/span> have expressed interest in several candidates for their front office openings, including Timberwolves assistant general manager <\/span>Steve Senior<\/span>, 76ers assistant general manager <\/span>Prosper Karangwa<\/span>, Heat vice president of player personnel <\/span>Eric Amsler<\/span>, Jazz vice president of player personnel <\/span>Bart Taylor<\/span>, and others, league sources told HoopsHype.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSenior passed on an offer from the Lakers and decided to remain with the Timberwolves. With the 76ers and Daryl Morey parting ways, Karangwa has received interest from the Lakers and Mavericks, HoopsHype has learned. Amsler has been with the Heat for 22 years, including winning three NBA championships in seven appearances. Taylor was previously the G League Executive of the Year with Utah\u2019s Salt Lake City Stars.\u201d<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to Yahoo! Sports\u2019 Yaron Weitzman, the <\/span>Lakers<\/span><\/a> offered Senior to be their executive vice president of basketball operations, though the assistant GM elected to stay with the team he\u2019s been with since <\/span>2022<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

How The Other Candidates Fit into Lakers\u2019 Vision<\/h3>\n

As for the new names, Karangwa, Amsler and Taylor all rose through the NBA\u2019s ranks in similar fashions\u2014from scouting positions to key front office roles, all while at some point leading their team\u2019s G League affiliates (<\/span>Karangwa<\/span><\/a> with the Delaware Blue Coats, <\/span>Amsler<\/span><\/a> with the Sioux Falls Skyforce and <\/span>Taylor<\/span><\/a> with the aforementioned Stars). Their storied careers and strong track records in player development seem to align perfectly with the Lakers\u2019 goals.<\/span><\/p>\n

President\/GM <\/span>Rob Pelinka<\/span><\/a> revealed on May 12 that the Lakers began interviewing candidates for two assistant GM positions\u2014one focused on \u201cplayer, draft and evaluation processes,\u201d the other on the \u201cstrategy side\u201d concerning \u201ccap analytics and data.\u201d Karangwa, Amsler and Taylor all fit the criteria for first AGM position, though the Lakers could also bump any of them to a higher-ranking role, as they attempted to do with Senior.<\/span><\/p>\n
