Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey<\/strong> agreed to a five-year contract extension with the team on Wednesday.\u00a0 The NBA\u2019s reigning Executive of the Year has made plenty of in-season moves to push the Rockets back into contention.<\/p>\n

Off-Season Moves<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many people laughed when they looked at Houston\u2019s roster to begin this season. The squad let savvy veterans Trevor Ariza<\/a><\/strong> and Luc Mbah a Moute<\/a><\/strong> go in the offseason.\u00a0Morey traded Ryan Anderson<\/a><\/strong> for Brandon Knight<\/a><\/strong> and Marquese Chriss<\/a><\/strong>. Morey also brought Carmelo Anthony<\/a><\/strong> and James Ennis<\/a> III<\/a><\/strong> to Houston and signed undrafted rookie Gary Clark<\/a><\/strong>. It turns out those people who laughed at the Rockets roster were spot on.\u00a0 Changes needed to be made. So, Morey got to work making in-season moves.<\/p>\n

In-Season Moves<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Morey\u2019s made a plethora of in-season moves to counter all the injuries Houston\u2019s suffered this season. Morey waived Anthony after only 10 games into the season. The Rockets GM has a knack for recognizing players at the end of other teams\u2019 benches that fit perfectly in Houston.<\/p>\n

When Chris Paul<\/a><\/strong> went down, Morey signed Austin Rivers<\/a><\/strong> on the buyout market. Rivers\u2019 defense and shooting have fit perfectly in Coach Mike D\u2019Antoni<\/strong>\u2019s system.\u00a0When Clint Capela<\/a><\/strong> got injured, Morey signed Kenneth Faried<\/a><\/strong> as a buyout from Brooklyn. Faried has had a career-resurgence in Houston. Faried has also added depth where the Rockets needed it most, in the frontcourt.<\/p>\n

Morey traded Ennis around the deadline and acquired Iman Shumpert<\/a><\/strong> in a separate deal on deadline day. Yesterday, Morey made the most important move of all, bringing back Danuel House<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Looking Ahead<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>Morey, the Rockets, and House finally came to terms on a deal for the rest of the year.\u00a0 House was a little-known, yet valuable role player and fan favorite in Houston. After all the adjustments, the Rockets are rolling. They\u2019ve won 9 games in a row, the longest active streak in the league.\u00a0Houston is gaining momentum for the playoffs. Morey\u2019s made a lot of deals and had plenty to deal with this season. Looking at Houston\u2019s roster, if they can stay healthy, at the end of the season, Morey may have the last laugh.<\/p>\n
