As luck would have it (pun intended), the Wizards’ last No. 1 pick was former face of the franchise John Wall. The five-time All-Star took up his old mantle, in a manner of speaking, as the team’s draft lottery representative.

2026 NBA Draft Lottery Results, Predictions After Wizards Win No. 1 Picks

Below, is the full order for the 2026 NBA Draft Lottery:

1. Washington Wizards
2. Utah Jazz
3. Memphis Grizzlies
4. Chicago Bulls
5. LA Clippers
6. Brooklyn Nets
7. Sacramento Kings
8. Atlanta Hawks
9. Dallas Mavericks
10. Milwaukee Bucks
11. Golden State Warriors
12. Oklahoma City Thunder
13. Miami Heat
14. Charlotte Hornets

As previously mentioned, Washington will land the first overall pick. The Utah Jazz land the second overall pick for the first time since 1980, when they selected 1981 Rookie of the Year, Darrell Griffith. Shockingly, the biggest jump comes for the Los Angeles Clippers, who’ll now own the Indiana Pacers’ pick since it fell out of the top-four. The Clippers’ own first round pick, projected to be 12th overall, was conveyed to the ever-wealthy Oklahoma City Thunder. Just days after hiring former Atlanta Hawks senior vice president Bryson Graham as their new executive vice president, the Chicago Bulls charged up five spots to land at No. 4.

Obviously, the elephant in the room is who the Wizards will select at No. 1. At this time last year, they were an intriguing but unimpressive team trying to build organically. Then in the blink of an eye, they acquired elite albeit injury-prone talent in Trae Young and Anthony Davis. Despite the promise of their wings, that’s the most sensible area to add a franchise cornerstone. If Davis stays, which becomes more likely with Washington landing the top pick, he can form an exceptional big man duo with Alex Sarr.

At that point, the choice comes down to hybrid guard Darryn Peterson or hyper-athletic wing AJ Dybantsa. For myriad reasons, Dybantsa seems to be the more likely choice. If so, the first domino will have fallen, leaving the writing on the Utah Jazz’s wall.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBydRYLofl" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 2431px; aspect-ratio: 2431/1621;" ></smartframe-embed>

Currently employing the father of projected top-three prospect Cameron Boozer, who also happened to be one of their former stars, Boozer is a relatively easy choice. Though the Jazz want to bring back high-upside center Walker Kessler, he’s an impending free agent who could attract generous offers. Instead of relying on Kessler choosing them, they can put fate in their own hands. A naturally complementary player, there’s little reason to question his fit between Jaren Jackson Jr. and Lauri Markkanen.

Naturally, this leaves the Memphis Grizzlies in position to draft Peterson. For a team trying to rid themselves of Ja Morant, this is exactly the type of development they needed. Though there are now questions about his durability and toughness after an injury-plagued one-and-done campaign, it could have very well just been an anomalous season. If the Grizzlies are willing to believe that, then they could have their next point guard of the future. All the same, if they can’t or decide not to move Morant, Peterson’s also shown he can play the 2.

The Rest Of The Lottery Picks

Here’s how the rest of the 2026 NBA Draft lottery could shake out:

4.
