The playoffs can be cruel. One moment you’re having a historic game, only for an injury to cut your night short. It has been the story for some players, such as San Antonio Spurs<\/a> star Victor Wembanyama<\/a>. Even so, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Jalen Williams<\/a> isn’t safe from it. An unexpected J-Dub injury may derail OKC’s hopes of repeating as champions heading into Game 3 against the Phoenix Suns.<\/p>\n

After missing a whole month to begin the 2025-26 season, Williams has yet to be cleared for Game 3 in the Thunder-Suns series. After recovering from his wrist surgery and his right hamstring injury, OKC is in danger of having him sidelined for the playoffs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Another J-Dub Injury May Be OKC’s Worst Nightmare<\/h2>\n

The Thunder are currently up 2-0<\/a> on the Suns. They’re also one of three teams that have done a great job defending home court. But with J-Dub likely playing fewer minutes or worse — being shut down to prioritize his health — this threatens OKC’s chances of going back-to-back<\/a>. Now more than ever, they need Williams on the floor.<\/p>\n

How Bad is J-Dub’s Injury?<\/h3>\n

While there are no official reports at the time of writing, Williams came up hobbling after attempting a layup in the third quarter. He did not return to the floor after that, worrying a lot of Thunder fans. Given his history of injuries, this spells doom if it ever becomes worse. J-Dub’s absence came at a time when Oklahoma City was carrying the momentum.<\/p>\n

In fact, as soon as Williams went to the locker room, Phoenix came back to life, threatening OKC’s lead. It took some big plays and swings from Chet Holmgren<\/a> and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander<\/a> to stave them off, and the Thunder pulled away for a 120-107 victory.<\/p>\n
