He was selected with the 53rd overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers, before later joining the San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies and Boston Celtics. Despite limited opportunities with those teams, Bassey has made much of his impact in the G League. Most recently, he suited up for the Santa Cruz Warriors, meaning he’s no stranger to life in the Bay or the Warriors organization.

This season, Bassey has averaged 20.5 points across 20 games while shooting an efficient 60.6% from the field. He also brings qualities the Warriors have lacked at times, particularly size and rim protection. Averaging 12.5 rebounds per game, Bassey led the G League in rebounding this season, further highlighting his dominance in the paint. With Golden State among the smaller teams in the NBA, acquiring him could prove more important than initially expected.

<smartframe-embed class="smartframe_wp_element" customer-id="b0c95bc04383cef69c6b47df872135cf" image-id="WmOBqdWteVRc" style="width: 100%; display: inline-flex; max-width: 3157px; aspect-ratio: 3157/2105;" ></smartframe-embed>

In his Warriors debut last night, Bassey showcased his defensive prowess, recording two blocks while scoring five points on 100% shooting from the field.
